Shaped Card

Here is a shaped card I made with Tilda – I believe she is Hula Hoop Tilda from the Rainbow Collection but she has been aptly renamed by a family member as disco Tilda. The stars on the background is a digi stamp from the Meljen Design collection.

She is such a girly girl card I had to add all the bling I could on her – on the stars, the hula hoop and her hair. Too bad I can’t get glitter to show too well on photo. If anyone has a tip, please share.

Matching Sets

Good morning peeps!

I’d like to share a set of 3 pictures I colored, decorated and framed for a matching set of gifts.

The 1st is Crissy Armstrong’s BBQ Bart that I shared in a previous post – after creating it, I decided it looked too nice that I had to frame it.

The 2nd is also an image from the Crissy Armstrong collection – Jelly Bean the Elephant, decorated and framed in matching background from the Authentique Paper collection.

The 3rd image is from Meljen’s design – Cat and Mouse.

All images are colored using Copic Markers and pattern papers are from Authentique Paper – they are a gift for my sister-in-law who has been kind enough to watch my kids while I craft and blog about it.

Only 1 color card

I’ve always seen other people’s one color cards and thought how simple and elegant they are. So I’m attempting to create my 1st one color card that I have long admired from a distance.

The die cut window and main image is from Heartfelt Creations and the sentiment and gems are from Hero Arts. That’s all there is to my 1 colored card. It really didn’t take more than 5 minutes to get this done and I’m wondering if perhaps I’m missing something…hmm.

Maybe I’m going to try more.

Jelly Bean – my sugar overload

Here is a card I created for Crissy Armstrong’s DT call, using Crissy’s own Jelly Bean the elephant image. Jelly Bean is just to adorable for words and I swear Jelly Bean’s got to be the mother of that cutest baby elephant I posted about 10 days ago. And how can a cute little image not go with a card loaded with doily, flowers and pink sweetness …

July Papertrey Blog Hop

Hello friends,

Hope your weekend was swell. The weather was great in MN – not to hot or humid – so we were out playing all weekend.

Here is a card I made on Friday night with my new Heartfelt Creations stamp/window die set.

The image was colored using Copic Markers, sentiment is from Flourishes and all the cardstock used was PTI Stampers Select White. I haven’t had much success die cutting the window with other thinner paper because of how delicate the window design is. I’m looking forward to seeing other Blog Hop entries today.

My 1st gate fold card …

Hi there …

I love trying new things when it comes to cardmaking. So here is my 1st attempt at a gate fold card.

I also wanted to try brighter colors as compared to my usual earth tones and pastels and what better image to use with a brighter palette than a love card – “love in a bucket” by Crissy Armstrong. It’s got to be those adoring eyes that make her images sing in my heart.

Impression Obsession Blog Hop …

Half my background stamp collection are from Impression Obsession – actually more like three-quarters. And I have 2 5″ d-ring binders full of them. The cover-a-card collection from Impression Obsession is what I’m referring to – they are just divine … 1 stamp covers the entire card and extra space to spare.

Here is one of my card that I made with I/O Cover-a-card (CAC) … what did I tell ‘ya. It’s more than just a background stamp – it’s an entire scene.

Delicious purple card …

I haven’t used purple, especially darker purple, much on cards just because I find darker cards harder to photograph. But when my sister-in-law asked for a purple card, I thought I’d give it a try to see if I could pull of a darker purple card.  Here it is …

I am surprised and how rich and warm it looks and I love how rugged yet soft it looks when paired with khaki green. I guess I will be using more of this color combo.

Here are the details for the card:

- Patterned paper is from Die Cut with a View.

- Tilda (magnolia Stamps) is colored with Copic Markers,

- Ribbon and flowers are from Offray.

- Tag was die cut with Spellbinders and stamped with Country Charms labels from Flourishes; sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Stay cool in this 100F heat.

I’m in love …

This is the image that makes my heart melt and remind me of my little baby girl (although she denies being my baby elephant). It is illustrated by Crissy Armstrong – and she is having a DT call this month. I get Crissy’s images from Whimsy stamps and they are having a 25% off digi sale this month (although this specific “Baby of Mine” image is only in rubber.)

 

Patterned papers are from the new Authentique collection. Swiss dot paper was embossed using the Cuttlebug textured folder.Shapes were cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities dies. Image was colored using Copic Markers. Sentiment is from Crafter’s Companion – Popcorn the Bear Collection. Flowers are from Prima, pearls are from Hero Arts and the “baby” clip is from Making Memories.

BBQ Bart …

Summer is the time our family grill out quite a bit at our house or at friends’ houses. I’ve been looking for a fun card for such grilling events – either to thank our friends for having us over or to invite them to our house.  BBQ Bart that Crissy Armstrong has drawn is so perfect. So here he is.

I have always colored Bart with Copic markers – but my coloring of him has always been rather flat. Recently, I found that Crissy actually did an amazing tutorial on her website about how she created scales on Bart and her coloring of Bart is absolutely divine. So I’m going to try and give Bart some life by trying out Crissy’s blender pen scales effect. I hope it brings some justice to Crissy’s awesome illustration.

Lovely daisies …

I’m addicted to card making (and shopping for it too). Phew!! I got that off my chest … Every time, I see a stamp I like, I buy (doesn’t matter if there are 20 other stamps on the same set I never set eyes on). For my husband’s sanity, I have tried a 2 step recovery program (sorry hun, step 2  – stop buying stamps – doesn’t work.)

So here is step 1: use as many stamps on the set as possibly.

Here are as many cards I could dream off using Crissy Armstrong’s Darling Daisies stamp set. I love how versatile that set is – you can use it for any occasion.

Happy Card …

Good morning friends …

I’d like to share this happy card I made for Crissy Armstrong’s DT call. I love clean and simple cards (CAS) with 1, maybe 2 layers – they are not easy for me to make because there are many nice embellishments out there just begging to be used. I also like cards with balance and strong design element to it and Crissy’s images are strong enough to stand on it’s own on a CAS card. On to the card:

Yellow bands on card are airbrushes with Copic marker (Y04, Y08); Elephant and sentiment images are Crissy’s illustrations, sold at Whimsy Stamps (BTW, they’re having a 25% digi sale all month long). Elephant was colored with Copic Markers (BV01, BV02, BV04, R20, R29, B01, B04, Y04, G05, G07, V12, V15, O)

Guest Designer for I Heart {Ippity}

I’ve had my badge up for a couple of weeks now but haven’t made an “official” announcement yet.

White is not white enough …

It’s tough for me to get out of holiday mode – after our long 4th of July weekend. Oh, I did make cards – that’s not the tough part. The tough part was dragging myself to the computer after 3 glorious sunny days!! (we don’t get much of those in MN)

Anyhow, I attempted a couple new things I had never dared venture in cardmaking – using the sewing machine on my card (there is a long story in there about about paper getting stuck and burning up the sewing machine engine that I will not get into) and coloring white clothing (I use to think why bother coloring white – the paper is white – but I stand corrected by my Copic instructor).

Here is the card that had both sewing and coloring white.

Tilda’s white clothes were colored with B0000, B21 and C0, her wings were B21 with clear Atyou Spica pen ad her tights were R0000 and R01. Colorless blender was used on all 3 areas to lighten areas to white. The oval frame was distressed using blue chalk pencils. The Warm wishes sentiment is from Impression Obsession sentiments II set. I love how versatile that set is.

I’d love pointers if you are successful in both areas.

Happy 4th of July!!

I love long weekends!! The kids play till they are worn out and I get to make cards while they are napping.

Here are the cards I made today. It’s the 1st time I’m using digital stamps and I love it!

The meadow is from Whimsy Stamp Crissy Armstrong’s Collection. I love how versatile the stamp is for many different images. Of course, everyone recognizes Tilda. I believe she is new from the 2011 sweet rainbow collection. I love how bright and colorful this card turned out that I didn’t even have to photo edit it at all.

My next card is also from the Crissy Armstrong Collection. I just adore this little girl and her puppy – I love that she looks so vintage. Quite a different look from Tilda. And she is so easy to color – all the shading spots are already highlighted on the stamp! Thanks Crissy.

I’m off to make more cards since the kids are still asleep and Crissy is having a design team call!! (scroll down to see blinkie on sidebar)  Have a happy 4th everyone!!

Good photography day outside … NO!

Hi there …

It’s a terribly muggy hot day today in MN – perfectly windless with a bright sunshine! What a great day to take photos of my cards. Yet when I tried going out to take a card photo on my deck, some non-existent wind keeps blowing my card over. It’s just too frustrating!

Perhaps I will not be waiting till it’s winter in MN to get my lightbox after all.

Well, here is the card I tried photographing outside to no avail … I did enjoy making the card!

The little children dancing image from Hero Arts is just too happy – it’s called “Dancing with Flowers” and I just love these patterned papers from the new My Mind’s Eye Stella Rose Collection.

And for those who know me, you will know I can’t stop at 1 card. So I made another version of this card using distressed ink instead of pattered paper just to see how it would turn out. I’m not really sure which one I like better, so please give me your feedback. The sentiment was from Impression Obsession Sentiments II. I love how versatile that sentiment set is.
