“Punny” Sentiment

Good morning!

I am so enjoying these challenges at Tuesday Throwdown – In addition, I get to try all these new stamps from our sponsors that I now discover I need.

This week at the Throwdown, our challenge is “Punny” sentiment. Come up with a sentiment that is a pun on the image.

Our sponsor is Digi with Attitude. I used Clipper the Crab image – no points what my play on the word is for this card. Here it is:

Clipper was colored using Copic Markers (r05, r27, yr23, yr24, e13, e15, e17); I used Sakura glazed pen to give Clipper some spots. Ground and sky were also drawn in using Copic Markers (E04, E11, E13, E15, E17, E50, E53, E87, BG000, colorless blender).

A special Thank you to Crissy Armstrong for giving me inspiration for the card.

Here are my cards for the last 2 days of challenges.

Day 4: Vertical Sketch Challenge

Have a Moxie Fab kinda day!!

Golden Anniversary card …

My neighbor is celebrating her parent’s golden anniversary this week and she asked if I could make her a special card. Here is the card I made for her.

I love how soft and elegant this turned out – quite unintentional actually. The background images were cut out from one of the Webster’s Pages journaling cards. Main stamped image is from Ippity stamps on Spellbinders Nestabilities Lacey Ovals and embossed flower is diecut and embossed using Sizzix Embosslit flower die and colored using Pebbles chalk pencils. Flower center is from Hero Arts. Gold ribbon is from May Arts.

I also used this card for my I Heart {Ippity} creative team post. Incidentally, this is my last week as guest designer with I Heart {Ippity} and I had a blast creating, learning and getting inspired with this creative team. Thank you very much Heather and the rest of the creative team for the awesome and fun opportunity. I will be around regularly to support your work.

Flourishes 4th Birthday

I just have to say Happy Birthday to Flourishes. They are my classic stamps that I so adore and I have so many favorites. This one I’m sharing is my go-to set for masculine cards. (and I have to add lace and ribbon so now no man wants it)

Added 8/26: 1 more card to share for the Flourishes 4th Birthday – my go-to card for a girl’s birthday.

Anyhow, join in their blog hop today and stand a chance to win more stamps from them.

Have a great day.

Moxie Fab World Challenges

Good morning friends,

It’s been a busy couple of weeks preparing for my upcoming expo (see events tab for details). However, every so often, it’s a reprise to do cards just for no reason other than for me, for fun.

Here are 2 cards I created for the Moxie Fab Sketch challenges that are going on every day all week.

Dimensions and Textures

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This week at Tuesday Throwdown, our challenge is “Lots of dimension and textures”. LOL – has that ever been a problem in the card making world?? I guess this is one challenge we should see lots of entries.

Our sponsor is MY GRAFICO and I used this delicious strawberry jam image. And loaded her up with about 6 layers of papers, a felted strawberry 3-D sticker from American Crafts, decorated with flowers and pearls, popped up the jam jar and the sentiment from Just Rite Stamps for even more dimension; added a doily and sewed the edges for texture. All the white cardstock is from PTI and I just bought their white adhesive sheets to try (used it on the sentiment border and the mat for the jam jar) and they are the most convenient things.

Here is the card:

How’s that for an overkill on texture and dimensions? Now I’m off to weigh her to make sure I don’t need extra postage – oh, and I better give her a fitting too, to make sure she fits in a regular envelope.

Have fun with your dimensional and textured card!! I sure did with mine.

Christmas cards

Hello peeps,

I have a couple more card to share – been creating cards for my upcoming business expo. (see events tab above for expo details)

These pine trees have been embossed using Rangers Embossing Tinsel (snowflake). They are the most realistic snowflake look I’ve manage to find. I haven’t tried the Snow Pen by Marvy Uchida yet so if you have, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

These 2 cards are made using my Quikutz Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter. My Silhouette has been somewhat neglected since the Vagabond showed up at my house so she was thrilled to be called to duty again. I love the clean and simple look of the card that is often very popular for office use.

Can you see the similarities of these 2 Christmas cards? Yup – I was giving my new Heartfelt Creations window die a try. I love that the die cut window also embosses a nice patterned on the frame. I guess the images are also from Heartfelt Creations. These 2 are new designs for 2011. I’m curious to see how they do at the expo.

If you like what you see, you can buy these cards at the expo if you’re in town or on my website at www.artycarty.com

Have a great upcoming week.

Creative Vision Design Team

Hi everyone,

I’m pleased to announce that I have been invited to join the design team for Creative Vision Clear Stamps and will be working with them for the next 4 months till the end of the year.

Come check out their cute and sassy stamps. You can also find Creative Clear Stamps at the upcoming Scrapbooking and Stamping expo in WI.

Stay tuned for more card and layout photos.

Patterned papers = better than sliced bread

They make everything look pretty and finished. I found these new papers from Authentique Paper and I just cannot get enough of it. I have used it on a present I just wrapped,  on my daughter’s scrapbook layout and now on my I Heart {Ippity} Love card.

Here it is …

Bottom front of card was shaped using Sizzix on-the-edge bracket die. Petaloo Color Me Crazy Flower was airbrushed with Copic markers (R22, R24, R27, R29); Ribbon is from May Arts; stamped label is from Ippity – A Moment In Time set and metal letters from Making Memories (now discontinued).

Thanks for stopping by.

My 1st Post for Tuesday Throwdown

Good Tuesday morning to you!

I have been looking forward to starting with the Tuesday Throwdown team for the last two weeks and preparing my cards for it – Tuesday is finally here!! Yeah Yeah!!

This week McMahon Five Designs is our sponsor – that means you get a chance to win some of their very nice stamps. I have never shopped there before but I was pleasantly surprised at what a large selection of cardmaking/scrapbooking goodies they have besides stamps. (there was 35 pages of digi stamps alone – not even counting rubber stamps, papers, embellishments and more). I guess I am going to be loading my shopping cart now.

Back to how you can win some of their stamps, join the Tuesday Throwdown challenge. Use any stamps you have and follow this week’s theme – non-stamped sentiment (handwritten, print out, die cuts, rub-ons etc) … should be easy enough.

Here is my card with a digi image from McMahon Five Designs and a rub-on sentiment.

Here a 2nd similar card – I always have to try on a different color dress just to see how it turned out.

Which do you prefer?

True confessions

Hello everyone,

It’s been about 3months since I started blogging – I love my 3 month journey so far and the best thing I love about it is the new friends I’ve made. So I figured, it’s about time I did a post like this one so you can get to know me better. Be kind to me …

  • I am addicted to Copic Markers. Oh wait, I’m also addicted to Spellbinders Nestabilities. Hmm … and Magnolia Stamps, and distress inks, stains, all things Tim Holtz, now Riley and Co. stamps …. you get the picture.
  • I eat junk food in the pantry (my kids really don’t need that much junk food) – I’m not a kid.
  • I love the smell of Strawberry Shortcake (the doll not the food). I had some when I was a kid but now that my little Emma is old enough to want one, I have it in the house again. Yeah yeah – I wonder how they make the plastic smell like strawberries and it still smells nice even after you wash it.
  • I buy supplies online, then I forget I bought them and re-buy them again. Hmm .. senior moments are getting more frequent. So now I have a shopping list for what I need and also a already-bought list for what I’m waiting for in the mail. Geez – I may need a list for already own items!

Alright – that’s it for now – don’t want to scare everyone away. Now, wasn’t that fun?

Yum Yum Cupcake!

I feel like I haven’t made a card in a while – that’s because I have been busy getting my daughter’s 1st yr scrapbook started. Have 4 pages done – will take some photos and post it for show and tell.

Anyhow, I just received my new dies from Papertrey Ink and I had to give it a test run. Here is a cupcake-shaped card I made with my new cupcake die – now I need to decide if I want to get their onsie shaped die. It’s to die for! But I do make more birthday cards then I do baby cards – so we’ll see.

Here it is:

Yum Yum!! Enjoy…

Geometric Clean and Simple Card

I do love linear lines and I do love clean and simple cards but I’m wondering why have I not used a geometric image on a card before? There is always a 1st and here is the card that I made for I Heart {Ippity} this week.

This is a one layer card. It took me about 2 days and about 20 different sketches to come up with this design but about 10 minutes to put it together. All the stamps are from the “A Moment in Time” Ippity set. I did have to use a stamp positioner to make sure the rectangles are aligned. The butterfly is from Daydream Creation and the gems are from Hero Arts.

Have a great Monday …

Rash of fruits …

Lately, I’ve been noticing myself making all kinds of fruity cards – strawberries, peaches, cherries – they make such ideal images for “thank you/you’re so sweet” cards.

Then I find Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge issuing a fruity challenge – how timely. I love Flourishes stamps – they are so timeless and elegant – even the the sentiments.

So here is my fruity card for the FTTC with a very elegant sentiment from the Flourishes Kids Play stamp set.

Enjoy a day of joy!

The Beauty of CAS!

I was surfing the web looking for inspiration when I stumbled on this blog you have to see – he is a 10 9 year old boy whose passion for his craft matches the quality of his work. (His tutorial is in English on The Scrapcake Blog where he is on the design team and his chatter is just so heartwarming.) It’s truly inspiring for me! (Thanks Kuba for stopping by)

So off I go to make more of those bright and happy CAS (clean and simple) cards that my customers like so much.

Papers, cupcake brads, rub-on flowers are from Doodlebug Designs. Happy Birthday sentiment is from Pebbles Inc.

Flower brads are from Doodlebug. Felted trees are from Pebbles Inc., Sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations and I apologize I don’t remember where the twine is from (it’s from my stash).

Enjoy the cards inspired by 10 year old Kuba.
