Creative Vision Design Team 6 Hop Today

Welcome and hello everyone …

Today is the official kickoff for Creative Vision’s brand new design team! Together we will hop our way around the blogs and meet the very special and talented members of Design Team 6. There will be random prizes awarded to bloggers who post comments on our blogs. Be sure to become a Creative Vision blog follower, if you are not already, in order to be eligible for those prizes. Following the hop Laura (owner of Creative Vision Clear Stamps) will give away a few SHOPPING SPREES! YIPPEE! I’ve got to tell you, I truly love using these stamps. The quality of these clear stamps are amazing – very crisp images.

For my new readers, I’m Stephanie Lee. Mother to 2, wife of 1, daughter, sister, card designer, business owner, paper and ink addict, shopaholic, and a wearer of many many other hats. Feel free to browse through my blog and you will find out more about me (I even have a fun “true confessions” post about little known facts about me if you can find it).

Anyhow … Today’s blog hop theme is about showing you – my style of card making. I had to think a little harder what IS my style because I make all kinds of cards – vintage, shabby chic, classic, cutesy, clean and simple cards. I run a handmade greeting card business (Arty Carty Handmade Cards) so I get orders for all styles of cards. So being a right brain person, I looked through my portfolio of cards with the intent to do a statistical count on which kind of cards I gravitate towards. As I was counting, I discovered that most of the cards I like have a strong design element to them:

  • have good form and are visually balanced,
  • some degree of functionality (none of those 20 lb card with 10 different things about to fall off) and
  • have strong value of color (complementary, contrast, tone); texture and depth.

No I didn’t go to graphic design school. I went to business school instead. (remember statistical count) So here is my card for the hop.

This is the order of the blog hop.

p/s: for my right brain readers, here is my final tally (24 vintage, 20 shabby chic, 27 CAS, 36 classic elegant, 22 fun and cute).
