Cardabilities Reveal Day for December 30

Hello Everyone,

I have news! While this is my last post for Cardabilities for the year and my 1st term; Karan has invited me to continue on for a 2nd term!! yeah yeah yeah!

This is a very inspirational design team for me. Karan’s sketches makes it so easy to just focus on the fun papers and embellishment and coloring of the card and I really enjoying using her sketches!

Here is the sketch for this reveal day:

And here is my card:

Happy New Year everyone!!! and safe travels …

Belated Birthday

Hello everyone,

I just noticed that I have been posting quite a bit the last couple of weeks. Well well, that’s because I have been in crafty heaven these days with the huge box of goodies Stampendous sent me that I totally forgot about one of my closest friend’s birthday.

Tsk tsk – what a terrible friend I am and I’m very ashamed to admit this. But the crafter in me yearns to share the card I made for her – she loves these pretty girly things in pastel colors so I hope she likes all the scalloped edges, the twirly whirlies, the sparkle and soft colors I included in her card. And I also hope she forgives me too.

I played with alot of Stampendous products on this card. First of all, I created the colorful background with Distressed Ink (Fired Brick, Wild Honey, Tumbled Glass) and a stippling brush. Scalloped punch top edge and round bottom edge. Then I stamp the flourish from the Stampendous Cling Jumbo Dahlia stamp set with Distressed Ink (Pumice Stone). I randomly emboss the colored background with Frantage Embossing Enamel (Shabby White), Stampendous Vintage Glitter (multi crystal mix) and Frantage mica fragments (Pearlized Mica). The finished background was adhere to card base and top edge stitch twice. American Craft Ribbon was attached. The sentiment I used is from the Stampendous Birthday Assortment Perfectly Clear Stamps and stamped on vellum and diecut with PTI doily die. Finish card by attaching sentiment and Kaiser Craft flower blossom.

Bring nature into your home

Good morning everyone,

Some of you may know that we just moved into our newly built home last year. It’s about time we started decorating after spending many many months unpacking. No we don’t have that many things – but we do have 2 young kids that redo every effort you make because they think they are helping – hence the many many MANY months of unpacking.

Well, we still have the basement to finish but it’s definately time to start decorating. Here is my start …

It’s so simple, anyone can do it too. Here are my directions:

  1. Adhere a piece of 4” x 6” burlap to white cardstock of the same size. (Note: burlap will be marginally smaller after trimming away/cleaning up frayed edges.)
  2. Adhere twig/grass from nature to burlap. My kids enjoyed collecting the twig/grass to add to our home decor.
  3. Stamp 2 vases onto chipboard. I used Stampendous Perfectly Clear Vase Set. I embossed 1 vase with Frantage Embossing Enamel (Aged Black) and the other with Embossing Powder Scenic Selection (Olive).
  4. Fussy cut vase out, clean up edges with alcohol ink and adhere to twig/grass.
  5. Pop the finished art into a 4” x 6” shadow frame, I got mine from Target.

Now, let’s just hope it doesn’t take us another year to hang it up.

Matching Set for Stampendous

Hello peeps!!

I hope you had a meaningful Christmas day yesterday! Christmas came early this year for me when my box of goodies came from Stampendous the 1st week of December.

Stampendous stamps were my very 1st few set of stamps s0 I was over the moon, like a kid in the candy store. I took out every stamp that in the box and started stamping on Recollection kraft cardstock (my must-haves laying around in my craft room) just to get them inked to see what it looks like on paper. The result – lots and lots of unintentional matching sets.

Well, one of them is not quite matching as you can tell. But I had a ball with these clean and simple cards that are the staple of my greeting card business, Arty Carty Handmade Cards.

Here are fuller view of each card with my supply list:

I used Stampendous Cling Bandanas andStampendous Cling Jumbo Think Of You stamp sets on this card and embellished it with Teresa Collins ribbon trims and Mark Richards Pearls.

The medallions on this card was also from the Stampendous Cling Jumbo Thinking of You Set and the sentiment is from the Stampendous Perfectly Clear Stamps Vintage Typewriter set. I love how the Wrights Velvet Chocolate ribbon gives it such a luxurious look to this card.

Last but not least, I used Stampendous Cling Jumbo Water Lily and Stampendous Cling Dragonfly Vine for the background of this card. The sentiment is from the Stampendous Vintage Typewriter Perfectly Clear Stamps. The dragonfly was beautified using Stampendous Embossing Tinsel (Vintage Olive & Vintage Plum) and Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel (Aged Gold).

Can you tell I had fun with my box of goodies! You can see detailed instructions on the Stampendous blog today.

Holiday Wishes …

Merry Christmas everyone …

I hope you left cookies for the jolly old fellow and he left you with what your heart desires.

Have a fun day!

Pay attention to the box please.

Is anyone in a panic yet – it’s Christmas eve and I have my last batch of cookies to bake, forgotten presents to buy and wrap, several Christmas decorations that fell off that needs to be put back up. So much to do and so little time…

Here are the baked goods I’m giving to my friends and neighbors this year – focus on the gift box please. I spent more time on the box than the cookies:

Yup every box is different. I got these white boxes from TPC Studio but I discovered you could get them at Michaels for almost half the price of what I paid for them…Grrrr..too late now but I know better for next time.

Covered all the sides with patterned paper (these are from Webster’s Pages, Graphics 45 and October Afternoon). Cut 2 3” square diagonally into triangles to decorate the top of the box. I used different Stampendous stamps for labels and tags for the boxes. Seen here are From the Kitchen Perfectly Clear Stamp set and Cling Poinsettia Silhouette.

From the Kitchen Stamp set was colored with Copic Markers and Cling Poinsettia Silhouette was embossed with Stampendous Vintage Embossing Tinsel (Vintage Mahogany for the poinsetta & Vintage Olive for the leaves). Here are a few up close look.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

My last post …

for Through The Craftroom Door.

Incidentally, today is also my birthday. I am feeling nostalgic today about the passing of another birthday and also the end of this term. The ladies on the team are warm and friendly and we have a real admiration for each other’s work. Melanie is an exceptionally kind leader. I shall miss being on the team with these ladies. Don’t be stranger in blogland ladies.

Here is my card for Through the Craftroom Door:

Background stamp is from Hero Arts. Twine is from Doodlebug Designs, Flowers are from Prima and the sentiment is a rub-on from Pebbles.

Have a fun day!

Stampendous Christmas cards

Does this ever happen to you?

You send someone a Christmas card for years and no reply – then you cross them off your Christmas card list this year and walah! a card finally comes. Grrr … I hate that when it happens because I feel guilty for taking them off the list and I have to make a last minute card to send back.

Well, this is the position I find myself in 3 days before Christmas. So here are some cards I have made just for that purpose.

This Christmas tree card was made using Stampendous Cling Tinsel Tree onto patterned paper. The pots were embossed with Aged gold embossing enamel and stars toppers with Halo gold mix glitter. I added a few dots of red stickles to the tree and fussy cut out the trees.  Then I stamped the cardbase with 1 tree image (didn’t want too many background stars) and added more glitter on the stars on the background. I assembled the card with some left over burlap I had from making a wreath, adhere the left and right tree onto the card 1st, then popped up the middle tree onto the 1st 2 trees. The sentiment tag was a ready made sentiment I got from a box of chocolates.

When I saw this Cling Jumbo Holly Stocking – I had to colored it up. It looks so elaborately decorated like it was cut from some ornate velvet. I also wanted it to look unique so I used gold rather than traditional red. For gold, I used Copic markers Y21, YR23, Y26 and Y28. My light source is coming from the right of the stocking and I darken the edges so it looks more dimensional. I then embellished it with Stampendous Fun Flock and Halo Silver Mix glitter. Hung my stocking up with red twine against some corrugated cardboard and patterned paper as background.

I hope I don’t have to make anymore Christmas cards because I need to get to cookie making for my friends and neighbors. So many things to do and so little time …

And don’t forget to check out the Stampendous blog for more projects from my design team mates.

A Special Someone?

Hello peeps!!

This is a week of special celebration for me. My little Shawn is turning 6 today! Happy Birthday Sweetheart!! How time flies – I remember the day I brought him home from the hospital when he was just 2 days old. I am thrilled he is 6 but I’m also reminded that I am also 6 years older since that day – it doesn’t help that my own birthday is in 2 days too. But it’s all good – older but hopefully wiser. (I’m offering a birthday blog candy right now too – don’t forget to sign up)

Anyhow, today is a new challenge at The Pixie Cottage – Make a card for “Somebody Special” and/or make a card using the sketch below:

Here is my card (using both theme and sketch):

I used The Pixie Cottage stamp “To You from Us” from Michelle’s Scrapbooking and More. They are just too adorable these 2 little kittens. DP is from Authentique Papers. Flowers are from Kaiser Craft. So now it’s your turn to go and create and come back and share with us. The randomly picked winner of their choice of two fabulous Pixie Cottage stamps.

Happy Creating and Merry Christmas!

Crafter’s Companion no image card

Hi all,

I have another post for Crafter’s Companion this month of December. What struck me as I was looking at all the projects on the Crafter’s Companion challenge blog was that there are no cards with only sentiment on it – not 1 that I saw, nah dah!

And for those of you who know me, know that I need to buck that trend and take on a challenge. I wasn’t sure if a company that made cute image stamps could also make sentiment stamps well enough to hold it’s own. So I made a card with just 1 Crafter’s Companion sentiment from the Popcorn the Bear Someone Special stamp set.

Here it is:

If I may say so, I loved how it turned out. The diecuts were all various Spellbinders dies, pearls were Viva Decor Pearl Pen, embossed background is an embossing folder from Sizzix and my sparkly glitter is from Stampendous. I actually also spritz my background with Tattered Angel Glimmer Mists but the shine didn’t quite come through on the photo (only the color did)

You still have time to use any Crafter’s Companion stamp (sentiment or image) to join us in this month’s Sparkle Challenge.

Just chillin’ for the holidays

Good morning, afternoon and evening my friends,

Welcome again to another Through the Craftroom Door Challenge. Today’s challenge theme is “snowflakes” on a circle card – make a blue and white circle card with lots of sparkle and bling. Since my last TTCRD challenge, I can’t get enough of coloring Gilli stamps so I guess I have to use my Gilli again on this card.

Suzanne Dean, from Color Me Creative Classroom is our generous sponsor of this challenge. You can win 1 copic class of your choice at CMC classroom. In case this sounds familiar with you too, yup, I design for Color Me Creative too and I also take Suzanne’s classes – they are full of invaluable coloring techniques (quite different from the certification class, which is more informational).

Well, here is my blue and white sparkly circle card:

Sentiment is from Inky Antics, snowflakes are from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Wait – there is more – you get a 2nd chance at winning too:

when you play both TTCRD challenges in the month, you get a chance to win an $18 gift certificate for Ippity stamps too, proudly sponsered by Aletha from Ippity.

Stay warm and Happy Holidays!

A special Christmas wish to you …

our fearless leader and dear friend Suzanne Dean!! It is truly my blessing to know you – you have a heart of gold and Color Me Creative Class 5 is da’bomb!

Thanks for sharing all that you know! You deserved the best this Christmas and every year! Enjoy the cards and the zebra; I’ll see you next month and while you are thinking of when you’re coming to MN for a class …

Why don’t you scoot on over to Shelby’s and Maria’s blogs tomorrow for more surprises in store for you!

Hugz to you!!

Cardabilities Reveal Day for December 15

Hello friends,

Welcome to Cardabilities Reveal Day – Sketch #45.

Before I begin this post, I’m thrilled to announce that I have accepted Karan’s invitation to continue on the Cardabilities team for another term! Yeah!

Her sketches are the best to work with and the sketch this week truly reflects my kind of card – traditional, linear, clean and simple. What more is there to say about this sketch – I love it and I could work with this sketch all day long.

Here it is:

Here is my card:

Patterned papers are from MME, doily die cut is from Papertrey Ink and big flower is from Kaiser Craft and little flowers are from Offray. Sentiment is from Just Rite Stamps.

I think I’m off to make another card with this sketch just for fun … maybe one with white space in the background.

The Pixie Cottage Blog Hop

Hello everyone!

It’s a very special challenge at The Pixie Cottage this week as we are celebrating our 100th challenge!

To mark this special occasion we are having an “Anything Goes Christmas” challenge and also a blog hop for some very special prizes!

I made this Christmas card for the hop:

The Pixie Cottage stamps are just so versatile – this “love you a latte stamp set” from Michelle’s Scrapbooking and More is not even a Christmas image per se but look what you can do with a little bit of Christmas paper and some ingenuity?

To get on with the hop, you should have come to me from Wendy Van Heerden’s blog and if not then please go back to The Pixie Cottage so that you don’t miss a spot on the hop.

You’ll need to collect letters from all the blogs on the hop to be in with a chance of winning.

. My letter is U .

Also you must leave a comment at all the blogs as each one is giving away a Pixie Cottage Digital Image so plenty of prizes to be had.

Finally when you get back to the The Pixie Cottage leave your name and link to your blog in the Inlinkz box for a chance to win a $20 Gift Certificate to Michelle’s Scrapbooking. We’d love you to enter with a Christmas card/project but if you are only entering the blog hop please add BH after your name. Only one “Blog Hop Only” entry per person.

So now you just need to leave me a comment and then hop along to Denise Gwalter’s blog to carry on with the fun!

Have a wonderful time looking at all the other beautiful projects.

Thanks for stopping by,  Steph

Can a brown bag be presentable?

Hello my friends,

My countdown for Christmas has started!! I’m in full swing of making gifts for friends and family. In our family, we try to teach our kids that Christmas is a time of giving and take the focus off getting Christmas presents. They do get presents of course – but that’s not the lesson we try to share.

Anyhow, back to gift-giving, invariably I always miscalculate how many boxes/packaging I need and I end up having to make my own gift bag. So I’m sharing my quick and easy gift bag made from a simple everyday brown lunch bag.

I first made a window in the bag using my Spellbinders die. (slide the die in the bag and run the bag + die through the die cut machine.) With the same shaped die but a larger size, I cut out a piece of acetate (those plastic packaging your craft tools come in) for a clear window and tape the acetate over the window opening. Then I made a frame using the same 2 dies from patterned paper and tape it down. You have a bag with windows to load it up with all your goodies. Slap on a tag and ribbon and you have a sweet gift bag on your hands. I used CV0076 Holiday Sentiments to make the tag on the bag.

Last but definately not least, this is also my last post with Creative Vision and I have really enjoyed making these wonderful projects with such quality products. Thank you so much Laura for having me.

Have a fun fun Christmas everyone!!
