Me, my mom and my baby.

Some of you may know that I started out as a scrapbooker first, way before card making ever came into the picture. However, I don’t share as much layouts as I’d like – they just seem a lot more personal to me when there are pictures of my family and journalling on it.I plan to share more because I enjoy making them (such a bigger surface area to play with) and it also helps you get to know me better.

Anyhow, here is a layout I recently made for my daughter’s baby album that I’m happy to share – the Cling Jumbo Hydrangea was just calling out to be used on this layout and I love how it pops, being in a color totally different from the rest of the layout.

My layout is will also showcase on the Stampendous Blog tomorrow. You will see a detailed supplies list and instructions listed there. But here is a close up of the hydrangea.

I colored it with Copic Markers and lightly sprayed and dribbled it with Tsukineko goosebump for texture. I also lightly sanded the embossed Core’dination cardstock for a distressed look. To add some dimension and interest, I adhere a white doily and only parts of the leaves. I love making layouts.

Oh and if you regularly follow my blog, you will have read that my daughter just celebrated her 2nd birthday during Thanksgiving week – yikes, that’s how far behind I am.

Gold, Cream and White Holidays!!

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone whereever you are,

This week’s challenge at Color Me Creative Classroom is based on these inspiration photos:

Now isn’t that festive…You should use the colors Gold, Cream and White in your challenge.

Oh you can use a darker color to stamp your image – I was having a terrible blond moment when I stamped my image multiple times in gold, then cream and white. Imagine the lines disappearing on me when I colored and the result has a hideous blob! (I wouldn’t share that picture of the snowman I colored when his eyes disappeared in a blob and I had to draw it in!!) Fortunately, my team mates pulled me out of that rut.

Here is my gold, cream and white card:

This challenge will run till January 6, 2012, through the holidays. So you have plenty of time to enter.

For this Challenge we have LOTS OF PRIZES and a way to donate to a wonderful charity, all sponsored by Suzanne!! (that’s the kind of person she is).

WHAT YOU CAN WIN:

-1 person will win a NEW Provocraft CRICUT MINI machine
-1 person will win a NEW KINDLE E-READER
-1 person will win a $50 Gift Cert. to SCACD
-1 person will win a $25 Gift Cert. to the Paper Temptress
-1 person will win 5 digis from Tiffany Doodles and a $15 Gift Cert to 7 Kids College Fund and a Gilli Gift Bag

HOW TO PLAY:

4 different ways to enter (head on over to the Color Me Creative Challenge Site to enter)
-Enter up to (2) TWO projects by January 6th
-Enter (1) one project into the BookEndz Challenge
-Donate a $3-5 donation to the Charity for 1 entry
-Donate anything over $10 to the Charity and get 2 entries
OUR CHARITY:
Reading is Fundamental is the charity Suzanne has chosen to sponsor this season.  Here is why she has chosen this charity “As you all know I am an avid reader and it amongst my very favorite things to do in my spare time.  I truly believe that literacy and reading opens up many doors in life for everyone.  Not only can you find joy in books but it opens your eyes to other cultures, places and people that is so worthwhile.  And just the fact that a huge part of life involves being able to read–to get through school, get a great job and navigate through life.  For me teaching children to read early on in life is a MUST yet so many children are not provided with the basic materials to learn to read.  So this charity is a non-profit that provides books to children and opportunities to bring literacy into areas that need it!”
Head on over to play – you’re doing a good thing.

Fancy Folds

Hi y’all,

The challenge this week at WnW is Fancy Folds – to make a card with more than 1 fold. And I have a confession – I actually tried making an easel card – it didn’t work. (and I actually looked at several tutorials online) Something is wrong with a fold somewhere because the front of the card is facing the ceiling … hmmmm. Then I thought maybe I might try one of those step cards that Lacey does do well – no luck there either. It wouldn’t stand – I think one of the folds might be the wrong way. I guess I will have to set those 2 aside and try again when I’m not knee deep in birthday parties and holiday preparations.

So I cheated with my Fancy Fold – I’m sorry ladies. I went out to buy one of those $40 Sizzix Bigz die that cuts out the entire template with the folds pre-embossed in it already.

This is what I made:

Obviously, it’s not a card but it’s a box that I could use to send my leftover Christmas ham home with guests, instead of some old Tupperware. I used “Let’s do Lunch” stamp from Wags n Whiskers and my sentiment is from Flourishes.

One random participant will win a Free Wags ‘n Whiskers Rubber stamp! You don’t need to use a WnW image on your project to enter the challenge, but if you do, you will be entered into a 2nd drawing for a Free Wags ‘n Whiskers Digital Stamp!! Two chances to win!! If you are in need of a WnW design, click here for Rubber stamps, and here for Digis!

It’s your turn now – let’s see your Fancy Fold creations.

Stampendous BlogStar application

Hi everyone,

I know I was bubbling with excitement the last time I announced that I joined the Stampendous Blogstar team (see post right here) but I wanted to loop back and share with you the cards that I sent in that got me here.

From my perspective, this was the card that caught Krissy Fossmeyer’s attention at Splitcoast Stamper; who brought it to Stampendous’s attention on their Facebook page and is also my debut card on the Stampendous blog today too – check it out. There are instructions to make this card there.

Here are the other 2 cards that I also submitted along with my application:

Love this Cling Jumbo Dahlia stamp – in fact I love all the cling Jumbo stamps – they’re so eye-catching.

And this Stampendous sentiment is one of my older stamp – I use it for Valentines’ Day cards too and I just love making the pieced background.

So there you have it. My next post for Stampendous will be on Dec 11, 2011 – watch for it!

Celebrate the season

Hi Folks…

Christmas is coming – I’m so happy – I love Christmas, it’s easily one of my favorite holidays. Presents, food, family, my birthday, my kid’s birthday (yup – we all have our birthdays 1 after another in consecutive weeks/days) – what’s not to love!

It’s also time to celebrate the season at Tuesday Throwdown too. Today’s challenge is to make a card that celebrates the season – Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice … you get the idea.

Our sponsor this week is Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps.

Here is my Christmas card:

Papers are from Authentique Paper, the corner holly image is from Robyn’s Fetish, Sentiment is from Justrite Stamps.

I choose the papers for this card when I saw the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger title “Deck the halls” – the music and the decorations on the papers. Then I saw those big giant baubles on the inspiration photo here:

Don’t those berries on the mistletoe look like those big baubles? Then I added the framed sentiment to my mantle – oh wait, I guess I got carried away decorating my house card. The rest as they say is history!

Fa la la … Have a Holly Jolly Holiday season!!

Sunday with Crissy Guest Post

Hey everyone,

By now, you would have figured out that I am a huge fan of Crissy Armstrong’s images – they are so achingly adorable, I think. I am extremely proud to be guest designing for her today.

Her challenge this month is “anything goes” – make any card you like and go to her challenge blog, Sundays with Crissy, to play along.

I made 2 cards using her images:

Ain’t Rupert the cutest – I left the card without a sentiment so I could use it for any occasion as it crops up. DP is from Basic Grey (green) and I apologize I cannot remember the manufacturer of the yellow dot paper (it’s from my stash). The butterfly pin is from Jillibean Soup – I have the hardest time finding hat pins so if you know of a place to get them, let me know.

My 2nd card is below:

This little cutie (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) is one of Crissy’s newer releases … even the name is cute. I love that she has these pencil drawing too – make the whole images so much softer. DP is from October Afternoon (black menu) and Lily Bee Designs (yellow dots). Ribbon is from Fancy Pants Designs. Flower is from Kaiser Craft.

There is your dose of cuteness for the day. All of these Crissy’s images that I have used can be found at Whimsy Stamps.

Have a fun kind of day!

Guest Designer for Crafter’s Companion

Hi all,

I’m so honored to be invited to join the Crafter’s Companion design team as their guest for the month of December. I absolutely love Popcorn the Bear and Souffle the duck and I have recently discovered Humphrey the Elephant. Actually, while I was writing this post and browsing the Crafter’s Companion website at the same time, I also discovered The Ultimate Tool as well – measure, cut, score, emboss, embellish all in 1 tool. I could make cards, gift boxes, envelope, there is even a peg to make bows as well! Wow – what rock have I been hiding under and guess what I will be asking for Christmas this year!

The theme this month is “Sparkles” – not an easy theme for me. I’m more of a die cutting, embossing, stamp and color kinda gal. I do embellish with pearls and twine or ribbon just because I love the clean and neat linear lines. So I’m rolling up my sleeves this month and taking on this challenge of going outside my comfort zone.

Here is my card of the adorable Popcorn the Bear:

I actually had a blast experimenting with all the different mediums to try and create “Sparkle” on my card. I used glossy accent to sparkle up the ribbon around Popcorn’s wreath, the berries on the wreath is “colored” with Stickles, the rest of Popcorn was colored in Copic markers. I then edged the focal image was with Viva Deco Inka-gold paste, ribbon had a touch of sparkle from my stash and my DP had some with metallic accent from Kaisercraft.

Are you all sparkled out yet? I hope you will enter this month’s Sparkle Challenge and don’t forget to check out all the great stamps and products at Crafter’s Companion too.

Wait, there is more – if you want a chance to win the ENTIRE set of Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers, join us for a Christmas blog hop from December 9th to December 11, 2011. Hop starts at the Crafter’s Companion USA information blog.

Be there or be square!

Stampendous December Color Challenge

I am so excited that this is my 1st post for Stampendous and I get to play along with a fun and easy color challenge! This month we are going to play with colors – Pink, Brown, Cream and Gold. Use at least 3 of the colors on your card! The colors can be by way of papers, coloring implements, inks, and/or any of the fabulous Stampendous Essentials. If you’ve been stuck in a traditional holiday color mode, this is your opportunity to think outside the Christmas crayon box!

Being an overachiver, I decided to use all 4 colors on my card. Well besides the fact that I had to try out my new Stampendous product – Frantage Aged Gold Embossing Enamel. Love the awesome vintage/bronzy look and it brings my stamped image to life – so cool. Check it out:

My sentiment is also from Stampendous – an older stamp from the Perfectly Clear Stamp Line (Happy Messages) and my border is Cling Jumbo Romantic Border.

We are giving away an Amore Frame Perfectly Clear™ Stamp set to a random winner. (sorry US winners only)

You don’t have to use a Stampendous image or products to play along, but we sure love it when you do!  You have until Tuesday, January 3 at 11:59 PM EST to add your link to the linky tool, and we’ll draw a random winner.  You can enter as many times as you’d like.

And a quick note about the linky tool below – it’s the exact same collection that is being shared on the Stampendous blog, and some of my teammates’ blogs.  You can add your direct link to your project featuring those 3 or 4 colors (pink, brown, cream, gold) here on my blog, or any of the other blogs that are sharing the collection!

Check out what my team has put together for you
