The Cutest lil’ BIG temper

Good morning folks,

Like all mothers of young children (who are still in their cute stages, I might add), I’m love struck by my children. Even their temper tantrums are so adorable and I have to stop to take a picture. You think that makes her angrier that I’m taking a picture?? bwahahahahahaha!!!

With this layout, I tried going outside my comfort zone and used paint on my layout because I thought all that screaming deserves some muddy and messy painting. Well, like I said it’s outside my comfort zone, not one of those ideas that pan out IRL and I’m not comfortable with the end result at all.

Here are more details:

Supplies:

Cardstock: Bazzill

Patterned Paper: Tinkering Ink, Basic Grey, American Craft

Stamp: Stampendous (Elegant Borders, Amore Frame)

Stickers: Authentique Paper

Alpha: Alphabet Soup and scrabble tile

Paint/Ink: Claudia Helmuth, Ranger

Journaling Marker: Copic

Washi Tape: Queen & Co.

Flower: Prima

Heart: Tim Holtz

Ribbon/Twine: Webster’s Pages

Pearls/Gem: Mark Richards

Die: Papertrey Ink

Die cut machine: Sizzix

Thread: Gutermann

Sewing machine: Kenmore

Adhesive: Scotch & ThermoWeb

Instructions:

  1. Paint a frame on cardstock with white acrylic paint and let dry.
  2. Zig zag stitch patterned paper on white painted frame.
  3. Stamp flourishes from Elegant borders and border from Amore frame onto top left corner, middle right and bottom of layout.
  4. Affix title stickers to top of layout.
  5. Adhere photos to layout tucking in 2 strips of patterned paper strips to left of photo cluster.
  6. Attach some washi tape to bottom right of photo cluster, followed by titling alpha. Tuck some pearl topped ribbon under the “temper” title.
  7. Diecut banners and add journaling on it. Mount to layout with foam tape on every alternate journaling strip.
  8. Add twine and heart to the last journaling strip.
  9. Finish with fabric flowers to 2 corners of layout.

I’ll still keep this layout – it’s a reminder for me not to use it again or use it more sparingly. What have you done lately that is outside your comfort zone? Share please!

Popcorn the Bear

Hi folks,

It’s time for another Friday Crafter’s Companion post. As you may have noticed, Crafter’s Companion has had weekly new stamp releases for a couple of months now. I’ve been looking forward to working with some very cute existing Crafter’s Companion stamps and this week I’m showcasing my timeless favorite – Popcorn the Bear.

I’ve colored Popcorn using Spectrum Noir Markers (GB8, EB7, TN7) – I usually play it safe by blending my furry animal and texturing it with colorless blender. Today I wanted to try just giving him “rougher” uncombed fur and just flicked the colors (without blending) in the direction of hair grown – at least what I thought the direction of hair growth on a bear should be. That unique ribbon is from May Arts and my “grass” is just trimmed using Martha Stewart fringe scissors.

This image is so versatile – you could also use it for a Mother’s Day card. That’s what I thought when I made it yesterday but I’d already send out my Mother’s Day cards so it became a Thank You Card instead.

New Flower Soft Colors!

Hello Everyone!

Can you tell I’m super excited about the new Flower Soft colors?? Daffodil, Old Rose, Cornflower, Crocus – such a soft and delicate palette! and I used one of them on my card today … Daffodil.

The image, including the pop out flowers, is the Die Cut Dimensions – Wildflower 2 collection. How cool is that!

The sentiment is also from Flower Soft. My delicious damask looking background paper is from Crate Paper.

I think the next new color I’m going to try is Old Rose. THAT my friends, is a swoon worthy color.

Thank You Sew much

Good morning everyone,

Lately, I’ve been noticing and feeling extra blessed -  lots of lovely comments I’ve gotten from my online friends, lots of Mother’s Day prezzies and cards from my family, just simply lots of kind attention … so here is a thank you card for you all …

All the papers and stickers on the card are from Momenta. The little sewing machine is from American Crafts and the spool is from Maya Road. That measuring tape ribbon is an old twill ribbon I had in my stash for eons because I didn’t know how to use it – I guess if you wait long enough, everything comes back into style.

Anything Goes at CMC Classroom

Good morning peeps!

It’s time for another CMC Copic Challenge at the CMC Classroom! Today’s theme is “anything goes”.

I am on a mission to make masculine cards! What do you think – masculine enough?

The fedora hat is from Pink Cat Studio Masculine set colored with Copic markers. Sentiment is a rub-on from Pebbles.

This week’s prize sponsor is Some Odd Girlstamps. You can use any image you want to enter into the challenge as long as they are colored with any alcohol markers AND fit the theme of course. Your card must also be newly created.

And when you play along the entire month (just 2 cards), you are also entered into the monthly drawing for the shopping spree at Oozak. How can you beat two prize opportunities – head on over to be inspired and get to coloring.

Timeless Irises

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another Crafter’s Companion Friday’s post. I don’t have a new release to share today but I can’t get enough of these beautiful florals in the Art Kure in Bloom collection. It makes for such elegant and timeless cards and here is mine to share.

All the Art Kure florals fit perfectly with the Spellbinders oval dies. My Irises were colored using Spectrum Noirs (LV1, LV2, LV3; DG2, DG3). I sponged around the Irises with some distressed ink to make the image pop. Patterned paper is from American Crafts and twine is from Doodlebug Designs. The translucent pearls you see are actual liquid pearls from Viva Decor. I hope you give this Crafter’s Companion Art Kure collection a 2nd look – it’s beautiful.

Here’s a list of my other Design Team members for more inspiration:

Sing a Song of Birthdays

Good morning everyone!

I need to replenish my birthday card stash, for some reason, most everyone I know has their birthday in the last quarter of 2011 with some trickling over to the new year … hence meet today’s card!

All the papers are from Momenta. I love the embossed cardstock under the sentiment – I only wished it showed better on the photos. The bling is from Want to Scrap and with much regrets,  I don’t remember where the ribbon is from. I hope you have had a great National Scrapbook Day yesterday!

Dad & Me

Good morning folks,

Just to switch things around and in honor of National Scrapbooking day today, I’m sharing a layout and a 2 pager at that. Sometimes I make a matching 2 pager with a design that flows directly from one to another, and sometimes, like this one, its meant to go together (similar pics, colors, story etc) but could also different enough to stand alone. That’s the beauty of scrapbooking, I think – there are no rules – just do whatever that makes you happy.

Here it is – the layout makes me happy and the people in it makes me happy too:

Don’t forget there is a new Stampendous challenge this month as well – simply make a gift, gift set or a gift card holder and add the direct link for your project to our collection at the end of this post (or on the Stampendous blog) no later than Thursday, May 31 at 11:59 PM EST .  You do not have to use Stampendous products, but we sure love it when you do!  As an extra incentive for playing along, one lucky crafter (drawn at random) will receive this fabulous new Cling Jumbo Tropical Garden stamp set:

Be sure to check out what my teammates have created for the challenge or to commemorate National Scrapbook Day today!

Due to shipping restrictions, the winner must have a US address.  We hope you have a chance to play along with us (you an enter as many times as you’d like!) this month…Happy Crafting!

Enjoy your art!

A little birdie told me …

Hello everyone!

I am positively in Crafter’s Companion heaven this 2 weeks – last week was the new release for a new Humphrey Collection of stamps and this week, a new SWALK collection of stamps! Just cutest overdose I tell ya!

This set was colored with Spectrum Noir pens (hair and bird: all 4 CT colors + GB5; apron, bow and shoe: PP3,PP4, PP5; green dress: DG2, DG3, DG4; skin: FS2, FS3, PP1). Don’t afraid to go outside the color family to get the colors you want – I did that with the hair so I could get a great contrast and to match my my paper too, which is from Momenta. I trimmed the top and bottom edge with a pinking shears and stitched the image on the patterned paper diagonally on all 4 corners.

I decorated the insides with a bird so that I may stamp any sentiment when I need to use the card.

I hope you have fun trying something new.

Happy Birthday Suzanne!

Good morning everyone,

The Color Me Creative Design Team has a secret!!!  Today we are hopping along to wish our fearless leader, Suzanne Dean, a VERY happy birthday!!!  Suzanne is the owner/creator of the Color Me Creative classroom site and, as many of you know, teaches her Copic classes online and on the road!  She is one busy momma and we thought we’d take time to wish her a happy day and hope she gets to sit with her Cherry Coke and donuts (ya, a fav combination of hers!) and relax a bit today and enjoy the hop!

Each of us decided it would be fun to remember Suzanne today in “typical Suzanne” style!  Our creations will either help remember a “funny travel moment” with Suzanne or… share a secret about Suzanne.  Ha!!!  Bet she didn’t see this coming!!! LOL

Here is what I created today….

This is a snapshot of what I know of our sweet Suzanne … a simple and beautiful person inside and outside – who thinks the best of someone, who always sees life from the positive; who would tweet me just to say hello during a 45 min layover at the Minneapolis airport  (I ♥ that!) and who has just a bit of loopy thrown in too. Remember when you took the wrong meds on a plane ride – LOOPY indeed! What a awesome and fun combination of a person she is. Happy Birthday my friend – I’m glad we got to hang out at CHA this year!

Now hop on over to the rest of the DT’s blog to see what they are sharing about Suzanne.  ;-)

Steph Lee (you are here)

and last but not least, don’t forget to head on over to the CMC Classroom site to wish Suzanne a Happy Birthday.

My 1st 5″ x 7″ card

Hi there …

This is the 1st time I’m making a card this size. I know it’s probably more postage but I kinda like the larger space to work with.

Check it out …

It’s loaded full of Momenta stickers, papers, sentiment. Ribbon is from Fancy Pants. Kinda cool to have that much space to play with. Think of the possibilities! I might have to try another one.
