Gourmet Rubber Stamps April Sketch

Hello there..

Just when I’m starting to enjoy warmer Spring weather, green grass and wearing shorts in MN, there is more snow again … argh!!

Well, here is an excuse to get back to the craftroom … here is an easy sketch for Gourmet Rubber Stamps this month.

GRS Apr sketch challenge

Here is my take:

GRS Apr 10 Sketch

The hat and sentiment are from the Dare to be Fabulous set and patterned paper from Authentique Paper.

Come play along with us for this pretty simple sketch challenge – you might very well be our next VIP Guest Designer. Here is what you need to do:

1) make one project using Gourmet Rubber Stamps . (Does not need to be a new project, but should use stamps from Gourmet Rubber Stamps)

2) email your project to kendra.stamps@gmail.com by April 15th to be considered. Please include your name, address, blog address, and your project.

That’s pretty easy, huh?

Each month we will select one winner to be our VIP GUEST DINER. Our first Guest will be notified by April 18th and will receive the following:

- a Truffles set (or 2 singles) of your choice and the 2 upcoming Appetizer sets for May.

- Your winning project will be featured on the GRS Blog and Facebook page on April 1st when we announce you as the winner; and

- You will play along with the design team for the month on our 2 challenges and the Appetizer Release!

Hello everyone,

Cutie alert!! Brand new Party Paw released today by Crafter’s Companion!!! I’m suffering from cuteness overload right now … here, look:

CC Mar 5

and guess what .. this lil’ bear has a name!! Bamboo – was colored with Spectrum Noir Markers, paper is from Authentique Papers.

Stampendous and May Arts Blog Hop

Hello everyone,

Welcome to a whole week of fun filled Stampendous and May Arts inspiration! We are culminating a fantastic week of inspiration with an even more fun-filled, inspirational blog hop! And to celebrate Card Making day … I made a card.

When I first saw this thick and lush double sided ribbon, 2 thoughts came to mind:

  • I had to use both sides of the ribbon and
  • it just had to go with this Santa and his luxurious coat.

I also sprinkled some Stampendous gold embossing enamels on the background. Santa can’t be standing on bare floors. Santa had some Stampendous white flock on his coat too and he was colored with Copic markers. Patterned paper is from Authentique and buttons from Momenta.

Check out these fabulous projects from the Stampendous team – you don’t want to miss this hop!

The Patriot

Hello hello everyone!

We’re in the air right now – literally, on a plane for our Asian vacation. I’m bummed I’m missing 4th of July this year – we usually participate in an “elaborate” kiddo bike parade and a picnic dinner with watermelon involved, followed by some adult fireworks. Real fireworks with some adult friends while the kiddos get to bed – you get your mind out of the gutter!

Since I’m missing 4th of July, I made a 4th of July card with a sneak peek of the new Flower Soft color – The Patriot – releasing this summer CHA!!

My stamp is from Gourmet Rubber Stamp and paper is from Authentique paper. I penciled in a flourish, stamped and embossed my sentiment 1st; then I swirled some Flower Soft glue on the penciled flourish and sprinkled Flower Soft on it!

Happy 4th of July!

Stampendous Colored Fragments Blog Hop

Hello peeps!

This Saturday the Stampendous team has something extra special planned for you…we have combined our regular monthly challenge with a blog hop showcasing some of the great new products released at CHA last month!  Pull up a chair, grab a warm beverage and yummy snack, and get ready to be wowed!

We’ve asked our Design Team to use our new Color Fragments for this Blog Hop, creating a card, scrapbook page, or out of the box project with these little bits of pure color. Color Fragments can be applied with any adhesive, mixed with resins, paints, clays, or just used around the house in plants, fish bowls, candles, soaps, any craft you care to tackle. They are non-toxic, don’t melt at normal embossing temperatures, and you can easily crush them if you desire smaller flakes or different shapes. You’ll love our five spring colors, and you’ll adore what our team has done with them.  Now, check out the whole list of fabulousness for today:

Here is my card using the deliciously shabby blue colored fragments:

Here is a closer look at those fragments – I mixed together the shabby blue embossing enamels, with the gold glitter and powder blue color fragments and melted it into a nice crusty finish on my card – I then inked the edges up with rusty hinged distressed ink – love the pop of orange on the blue embossing enamels:

If you have not checked out this month’s great texture challenge, you can read all the details on the Stampendous blog.  Now, check out the whole list of fabulousness for today:

Stephanie Lee (er – this would be me)
& a very special guest designer for our blog hop

As you hop from blog to blog, being wowed by all the amazing new goodies we are showing off, be sure to leave some love (and your contact email) for the designers, as well as on the Stampendous blog. The more you comment, the better your chances are to win one of these five fantastic prize packs.  Each one includes a brand new stamp set and bottle of color fragments from Stampendous:

Winners will be randomly selected from all comments left on blogs, so the more you comment the better your chances are to win one!!  You have until Sunday, February 12 th at 8:00 PM EST to leave a comment on each blog; winners will be announced on Monday, February 13th. Due to shipping restrictions, all winners must have a US/APO/FPO mailing address.

And don’t forget….We want YOU to play along with us in our monthly challenge!  Just add your direct link to your card (make sure you’ve loaded it up with tons of TEXTURE) to the linky tool below my signature (or on the Stampendous blog) no later than March 1, 2012 at 11:00 PM EST.  You do not have to use Stampendous products to play along, but we sure love it when you do!  And as an extra incentive for playing, one lucky person (drawn at random from all the entries) will receive the gorgeous Corset Ladies Perfectly Clear Stamp Set.

Butterfly Frame

Hello everyone.

I am proud to share with you the newest release from Crafter’s Companion – Stamp It Stamps – that you may have seen at CHA last week. These are about the coolest vintagey looking stamps there are and here is the Butterfly Frame on my card.

Pardon the poor photo quality of this card – I didn’t have my lightbox with me when I had to take a photo 1 day before leaving for CHA last week.

Here is how I did the card:

I stamped the image onto kraft cardstock and embossed it with black embossing powder so it would still remain dark after I finish inking it.

This is the part I had the most fun with – I sprayed the image with white color mist and then dribbled brown color mist on top to age it further. The mists were from October Afternoon. The edges were trimmed with my deckling scissors and inked with brown chalk ink. I embellished the focal image further with some Stampendous mica flakes (crushed so it wouldn’t be so heavy). I love how those flakes easily attached with just adhesive and I get instant texture – I’m all for anything easy to use.

The rest of the card was left simple so that the focus would remain on the main image and sentiment – which happens to be from the Fairyopolis winter set.

Check out more card inspiration using this Stamp It collection from my Crafter’s Companion team mates.

Have a fun and inky day!

True Blue challenge

Good morning my friends,

There is a challenge today at the Flower Soft blog – use the Mabel Lucie Attwell Kit to make a blue colored card. You know before I started on the Flower Soft design team, I didn’t even know Flower Soft made anything else beyond those little amazing sprinkles that is so easy to apply and adds instant texture to your card. Well, I discovered the card kits and card toppers too and I wonder why I have never used it! It makes card making so easy and all I need to do is just assemble my card and decorate it!

Well, here is my blue card using the kit! Well, you can use the kit as is or step it up and use it in many other fun and creative ways.

I, of course, have to take the hard way – what’s wrong with me! But this little angel from the kit is so fun and darn adorable I had to add a little aeroplane just for the fun of it!

Go check it out – there are tons more fun and adorable images to use in the kits!

Tuesday Throwdown From the Heart Challenge

Hi y’all,

Before we get to the challenge this week, I am very sad to announce that this is my last challenge with the Tuesday Throwdown design team. This team is one of my 1st design teams and over the last half a year, I have gotten to know these ladies and come to regard them as my friends. To leave them is very heavy on my heart. I’m going to miss you Brenda, Ceal, Davi, Deedee, Lauren, NanaConnie, Yolanda.

Without making everyone any more sappy, the challenge this week is to use HEARTS in your creations. Our sponsor is Dearie Dolls Digi Stamps.

For such a simple card, I wasn’t quite expecting to use so many paper selection for this – My Mind’s Eye (floral & gingham), Studio Calico (tan text), Crate Paper (wood grain), Authentique Paper (dark red background). The black mat is actually just acrylic paint roughly painted on.

Come join in the fun at Tuesday Throwdown.

Wintry Frost is an understatement.

Hello everyone,

It’s freezing right now in MN – cold, icy, snowy – aarrggh. I’d rather these things be only on a card than outside my door as well.

Here is my icy cold and snowy card I made for this week’s challenge at CMC challenge.

The Theme this week is Wintry Frost – color icy, snowy, wet images to look wintry. Also use this photo as inspiration.

Lily of the Valley (LOTV) is our sponsor this week..yeah!! Absolutely adorable LOTV images!!

The papers I used this week is from Echo Park (grey circle background), Basic Grey (small brown dots) and Authentique Paper (blue medallion) – love to mix and match paper manufacturers, such a fun challenge. Ice was created using Stampendous Shaved Ice from the Frantage collection. Snowflakes on the focal image is done with Stickles. The diecut snowflakes are from Marianne Designs.

Don’t forget when you play along the entire month, you are also entered into the monthly drawing for the shopping spree at Oozak. How can you beat two prize opportunities – head on over to be inspired and get to coloring.

A Special Someone?

Hello peeps!!

This is a week of special celebration for me. My little Shawn is turning 6 today! Happy Birthday Sweetheart!! How time flies – I remember the day I brought him home from the hospital when he was just 2 days old. I am thrilled he is 6 but I’m also reminded that I am also 6 years older since that day – it doesn’t help that my own birthday is in 2 days too. But it’s all good – older but hopefully wiser. (I’m offering a birthday blog candy right now too – don’t forget to sign up)

Anyhow, today is a new challenge at The Pixie Cottage – Make a card for “Somebody Special” and/or make a card using the sketch below:

Here is my card (using both theme and sketch):

I used The Pixie Cottage stamp “To You from Us” from Michelle’s Scrapbooking and More. They are just too adorable these 2 little kittens. DP is from Authentique Papers. Flowers are from Kaiser Craft. So now it’s your turn to go and create and come back and share with us. The randomly picked winner of their choice of two fabulous Pixie Cottage stamps.

Happy Creating and Merry Christmas!

A special Christmas wish to you …

our fearless leader and dear friend Suzanne Dean!! It is truly my blessing to know you – you have a heart of gold and Color Me Creative Class 5 is da’bomb!

Thanks for sharing all that you know! You deserved the best this Christmas and every year! Enjoy the cards and the zebra; I’ll see you next month and while you are thinking of when you’re coming to MN for a class …

Why don’t you scoot on over to Shelby’s and Maria’s blogs tomorrow for more surprises in store for you!

Hugz to you!!

The Pixie Cottage Blog Hop

Hello everyone!

It’s a very special challenge at The Pixie Cottage this week as we are celebrating our 100th challenge!

To mark this special occasion we are having an “Anything Goes Christmas” challenge and also a blog hop for some very special prizes!

I made this Christmas card for the hop:

The Pixie Cottage stamps are just so versatile – this “love you a latte stamp set” from Michelle’s Scrapbooking and More is not even a Christmas image per se but look what you can do with a little bit of Christmas paper and some ingenuity?

To get on with the hop, you should have come to me from Wendy Van Heerden’s blog and if not then please go back to The Pixie Cottage so that you don’t miss a spot on the hop.

You’ll need to collect letters from all the blogs on the hop to be in with a chance of winning.

. My letter is U .

Also you must leave a comment at all the blogs as each one is giving away a Pixie Cottage Digital Image so plenty of prizes to be had.

Finally when you get back to the The Pixie Cottage leave your name and link to your blog in the Inlinkz box for a chance to win a $20 Gift Certificate to Michelle’s Scrapbooking. We’d love you to enter with a Christmas card/project but if you are only entering the blog hop please add BH after your name. Only one “Blog Hop Only” entry per person.

So now you just need to leave me a comment and then hop along to Denise Gwalter’s blog to carry on with the fun!

Have a wonderful time looking at all the other beautiful projects.

Thanks for stopping by,  Steph

Celebrate the season

Hi Folks…

Christmas is coming – I’m so happy – I love Christmas, it’s easily one of my favorite holidays. Presents, food, family, my birthday, my kid’s birthday (yup – we all have our birthdays 1 after another in consecutive weeks/days) – what’s not to love!

It’s also time to celebrate the season at Tuesday Throwdown too. Today’s challenge is to make a card that celebrates the season – Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice … you get the idea.

Our sponsor this week is Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps.

Here is my Christmas card:

Papers are from Authentique Paper, the corner holly image is from Robyn’s Fetish, Sentiment is from Justrite Stamps.

I choose the papers for this card when I saw the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger title “Deck the halls” – the music and the decorations on the papers. Then I saw those big giant baubles on the inspiration photo here:

Don’t those berries on the mistletoe look like those big baubles? Then I added the framed sentiment to my mantle – oh wait, I guess I got carried away decorating my house card. The rest as they say is history!

Fa la la … Have a Holly Jolly Holiday season!!

Masculine Christmas Card

Welcome again to another Tuesday Throwdown challenge,

Today’s challenge is to make a Christmas card for men/boys. Talk about a challenge!! I have a hard enough time making a masculine card; now I have distinguish holidays cards as feminine and masculine!!

Alright, I’m pulling up my sleeves and digging into this challenge – and here is my thought process. Masculine = brown, green (no pink); minimal flowers or ribbon unless it’s in something masculine like burlap, canvas or pinstripes. I guess I should also try to skip the pearls and bling.

So here is my attempt:

Our prize sponsor this week is Dude Time Doodles. Come play along, I want to see how you make your masculine Christmas cards. Tree image is from Dude Time Doodles; sentiment is from Inky Antics, DPs are from Authentique Papers (calendar print) and Crate Paper (Pinstripes). Flower was die cut on burlap.

Have a great day!!

Snow Angels

Welcome everyone …

Are you having snow yet? (at least for my friends in the northern hemisphere). Well, we are – and quite appropriately, Wags ‘n Whiskers (WnW) is having a Snow Angel Themed challenge this week – make a card using an angelic image.

One random participant will win a Free Wags ‘n Whiskers Rubber stamp! You don’t need to use a WnW image on your project to enter the challenge, but if you do, you will be entered into a 2nd drawing for a Free Wags ‘n Whiskers Digital Stamp!! Two chances to win!! If you are in need of a WnW design, click here for Rubber stamps, and here for Digis!

Here is my snow angel:

My designer papers are from Authentique Papers and my die cut is from Spellbinders.

Come join in the snowy fun …

My Unintentional Card – November PTI Blog Hop

Hi everyone,

When was the last time you cleaned out your stash of scrap papers and found a gem? Well, I have recently spent an hour just throwing out scraps way too small to use – whatever possessed me to keep a scrap paper a sliver wide behoves me.

Anyhow, guess what I found – these 2 negative die cut of a poinsetta (it’s so old I don’t even remember which project I used it for – it’s not on my blog – I’ve looked.)

Well, this is what I came up with:

What a gem! I love it – and it’s so easy to make to. My negative die cut is on PTI Stamper Select - that is the only cardstock I have in my house – I love that it’s so thick that a negative diecut stands up well on it and I also use it for my Copic coloring. It’s the best! I just stamped a simple sentiment, slap a DP from Authentique Paper behind and popped up the negative die cut and finished with a button also from my stash. It’s so my style – so I guess I’ll be making more of it for Arty Carty Handmade Cards.

And here is my inspiration for the card:

Have a fun day cleaning out your stash too – you never know what you’ll find.
