Hello there..

Just when I’m starting to enjoy warmer Spring weather, green grass and wearing shorts in MN, there is more snow again … argh!!

Well, here is an excuse to get back to the craftroom … here is an easy sketch for Gourmet Rubber Stamps this month.

The hat and sentiment are from the Dare to be Fabulous set and patterned paper from Authentique Paper.

Stampendous and May Arts Blog Hop

Welcome to a whole week of fun filled Stampendous and May Arts inspiration! We are culminating a fantastic week of inspiration with an even more fun-filled, inspirational blog hop! And to celebrate Card Making day … I made a card.

When I first saw this thick and lush double sided ribbon, 2 thoughts came to mind:

  • I had to use both sides of the ribbon and
  • it just had to go with this Santa and his luxurious coat.

I also sprinkled some Stampendous gold embossing enamels on the background. Santa can’t be standing on bare floors. Santa had some Stampendous white flock on his coat too and he was colored with Copic markers. Patterned paper is from Authentique and buttons from Momenta.

Christmas Morning Layout

Hello everyone!

It is very early to be thinking of Christmas, given this sweltering heat! But I wanted to share some amazing BRAND NEW Stampendous stamps again. This is a layout I made for CHA Summer 2012.

These have got to be my favorite Christmas stamps this new release! The yellow poinsettia at the top of the layout – it’s a background stamp that I colored with Copic Markers. Stampendous & Resin Craft Blog Hop + A Giveaway!

I am totally excited to share with you my project today because this week is the 1st time I have used resin and I’ve manage to achieve many things – learn a new medium, create a project I like and have resin stuck in my hair that I had to cut off. The Patriot

Hello hello everyone!

We’re in the air right now – literally, on a plane for our Asian vacation. I’m bummed I’m missing 4th of July this year – we usually participate in an “elaborate” kiddo bike parade and a picnic dinner with watermelon involved, followed by some adult fireworks. Real fireworks with some adult friends while the kiddos get to bed – you get your mind out of the gutter!

Since I’m missing 4th of July, I made a 4th of July card with a sneak peek of the new Flower Soft color – The Patriot – releasing this summer CHA!!

My stamp is from Gourmet Rubber Stamp and paper is from Authentique paper. I penciled in a flourish, stamped and embossed my sentiment 1st; then I swirled some Flower Soft glue on the penciled flourish and sprinkled Flower Soft on it!

My double sided paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle and sentiment is from American Crafts (rub on) and Authentique Paper (stickers). All inks that I used for stamping are from Tsukineko.

Stampendous Colored Fragments Blog Hop

This Saturday the Stampendous team has something extra special planned for you…we have combined our regular monthly challenge with a blog hop showcasing some of the great new products released at CHA last month!  Pull up a chair, grab a warm beverage and yummy snack, and get ready to be wowed!

We’ve asked our Design Team to use our new Color Fragments for this Blog Hop, creating a card, scrapbook page, or out of the box project with these little bits of pure color. Here is my card using the deliciously shabby blue colored fragments:

Here is a closer look at those fragments – I mixed together the shabby blue embossing enamels, with the gold glitter and powder blue color fragments and melted it into a nice crusty finish on my card – I then inked the edges up with rusty hinged distressed ink – love the pop of orange on the blue embossing enamels:

Butterfly Frame

Hello everyone.

I am proud to share with you the newest release from Crafter’s Companion – Stamp It Stamps – that you may have seen at CHA last week. These are about the coolest vintagey looking stamps there are and here is the Butterfly Frame on my card.

Pardon the poor photo quality of this card – I didn’t have my lightbox with me when I had to take a photo 1 day before leaving for CHA last week.

Here is how I did the card:

I stamped the image onto kraft cardstock and embossed it with black embossing powder so it would still remain dark after I finish inking it.

This is the part I had the most fun with – I sprayed the image with white color mist and then dribbled brown color mist on top to age it further. The mists were from October Afternoon. The edges were trimmed with my deckling scissors and inked with brown chalk ink. I embellished the focal image further with some Stampendous mica flakes (crushed so it wouldn’t be so heavy). I love how those flakes easily attached with just adhesive and I get instant texture – I’m all for anything easy to use.

The rest of the card was left simple so that the focus would remain on the main image and sentiment – which happens to be from the Fairyopolis winter set.

True Blue challenge

Good morning my friends,

There is a challenge today at the Flower Soft blog – use the Mabel Lucie Attwell Kit to make a blue colored card. You know before I started on the Flower Soft design team, I didn’t even know Flower Soft made anything else beyond those little amazing sprinkles that is so easy to apply and adds instant texture to your card. Well, I discovered the card kits and card toppers too and I wonder why I have never used it! It makes card making so easy and all I need to do is just assemble my card and decorate it!

Well, here is my blue card using the kit! Well, you can use the kit as is or step it up and use it in many other fun and creative ways.

I, of course, have to take the hard way – what’s wrong with me! But this little angel from the kit is so fun and darn adorable I had to add a little aeroplane just for the fun of it!

Tuesday Throwdown From the Heart Challenge

Hi y’all,

Before we get to the challenge this week, I am very sad to announce that this is my last challenge with the Tuesday Throwdown design team. This team is one of my 1st design teams and over the last half a year, I have gotten to know these ladies and come to regard them as my friends. To leave them is very heavy on my heart. I’m going to miss you Brenda, Ceal, Davi, Deedee, Lauren, NanaConnie, Yolanda.

For such a simple card, I wasn’t quite expecting to use so many paper selection for this – My Mind’s Eye (floral & gingham), Studio Calico (tan text), Crate Paper (wood grain), Authentique Paper (dark red background). The black mat is actually just acrylic paint roughly painted on.

Wintry Frost is an understatement.

Hello everyone,

It’s freezing right now in MN – cold, icy, snowy – aarrggh. I’d rather these things be only on a card than outside my door as well.

Here is my icy cold and snowy card I made for this week’s challenge at CMC challenge.

 

The Theme this week is Wintry Frost – color icy, snowy, wet images to look wintry. Also use this photo as inspiration.

Lily of the Valley (LOTV) is our sponsor this week..yeah!! Absolutely adorable LOTV images!!

The papers I used this week is from Echo Park (grey circle background), Basic Grey (small brown dots) and Authentique Paper (blue medallion) – love to mix and match paper manufacturers, such a fun challenge. Ice was created using Stampendous Shaved Ice from the Frantage collection. Snowflakes on the focal image is done with Stickles. The diecut snowflakes are from Marianne Designs.

A Special Someone?

Hello peeps!!

This is a week of special celebration for me. My little Shawn is turning 6 today! Happy Birthday Sweetheart!! How time flies – I remember the day I brought him home from the hospital when he was just 2 days old. I am thrilled he is 6 but I’m also reminded that I am also 6 years older since that day – it doesn’t help that my own birthday is in 2 days too. But it’s all good – older but hopefully wiser. (I’m offering a birthday blog candy right now too – don’t forget to sign up)

Anyhow, today is a new challenge at The Pixie Cottage – Make a card for “Somebody Special” and/or make a card using the sketch below:

Celebrate the season

Hi Folks…

Christmas is coming – I’m so happy – I love Christmas, it’s easily one of my favorite holidays. Presents, food, family, my birthday, my kid’s birthday (yup – we all have our birthdays 1 after another in consecutive weeks/days) – what’s not to love!

It’s also time to celebrate the season at Tuesday Throwdown too. Today’s challenge is to make a card that celebrates the season – Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice … you get the idea.

I choose the papers for this card when I saw the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger title “Deck the halls” – the music and the decorations on the papers. Then I saw those big giant baubles on the inspiration photo here:

Don’t those berries on the mistletoe look like those big baubles? Then I added the framed sentiment to my mantle – oh wait, I guess I got carried away decorating my house card. The rest as they say is history!

Masculine Christmas Card

Welcome again to another Tuesday Throwdown challenge,

Today’s challenge is to make a Christmas card for men/boys. Talk about a challenge!! I have a hard enough time making a masculine card; now I have distinguish holidays cards as feminine and masculine!!

Alright, I’m pulling up my sleeves and digging into this challenge – and here is my thought process. Masculine = brown, green (no pink); minimal flowers or ribbon unless it’s in something masculine like burlap, canvas or pinstripes. I guess I should also try to skip the pearls and bling.

So here is my attempt:

My Unintentional Card – November PTI Blog Hop

Hi everyone,

When was the last time you cleaned out your stash of scrap papers and found a gem? Well, I have recently spent an hour just throwing out scraps way too small to use – whatever possessed me to keep a scrap paper a sliver wide behoves me.

Anyhow, guess what I found – these 2 negative die cut of a poinsetta (it’s so old I don’t even remember which project I used it for – it’s not on my blog – I’ve looked.)

Well, this is what I came up with:

What a gem! I love it – and it’s so easy to make to. My negative die cut is on PTI Stamper Select - that is the only cardstock I have in my house – I love that it’s so thick that a negative diecut stands up well on it and I also use it for my Copic coloring. It’s the best! I just stamped a simple sentiment, slap a DP from Authentique Paper behind and popped up the negative die cut and finished with a button also from my stash. It’s so my style – so I guess I’ll be making more of it for Arty Carty Handmade Cards.
