Cardabilities Reveal Day for December 30

Hello Everyone,

I have news! While this is my last post for Cardabilities for the year and my 1st term; Karan has invited me to continue on for a 2nd term!! yeah yeah yeah!

This is a very inspirational design team for me. Karan’s sketches makes it so easy to just focus on the fun papers and embellishment and coloring of the card and I really enjoying using her sketches!

Here is the sketch for this reveal day:

And here is my card:

Happy New Year everyone!!! and safe travels …

Stampendous Christmas cards

Does this ever happen to you?

You send someone a Christmas card for years and no reply – then you cross them off your Christmas card list this year and walah! a card finally comes. Grrr … I hate that when it happens because I feel guilty for taking them off the list and I have to make a last minute card to send back.

Well, this is the position I find myself in 3 days before Christmas. So here are some cards I have made just for that purpose.

This Christmas tree card was made using Stampendous Cling Tinsel Tree onto patterned paper. The pots were embossed with Aged gold embossing enamel and stars toppers with Halo gold mix glitter. I added a few dots of red stickles to the tree and fussy cut out the trees.  Then I stamped the cardbase with 1 tree image (didn’t want too many background stars) and added more glitter on the stars on the background. I assembled the card with some left over burlap I had from making a wreath, adhere the left and right tree onto the card 1st, then popped up the middle tree onto the 1st 2 trees. The sentiment tag was a ready made sentiment I got from a box of chocolates.

When I saw this Cling Jumbo Holly Stocking – I had to colored it up. It looks so elaborately decorated like it was cut from some ornate velvet. I also wanted it to look unique so I used gold rather than traditional red. For gold, I used Copic markers Y21, YR23, Y26 and Y28. My light source is coming from the right of the stocking and I darken the edges so it looks more dimensional. I then embellished it with Stampendous Fun Flock and Halo Silver Mix glitter. Hung my stocking up with red twine against some corrugated cardboard and patterned paper as background.

I hope I don’t have to make anymore Christmas cards because I need to get to cookie making for my friends and neighbors. So many things to do and so little time …

And don’t forget to check out the Stampendous blog for more projects from my design team mates.

My Unintentional Card – November PTI Blog Hop

Hi everyone,

When was the last time you cleaned out your stash of scrap papers and found a gem? Well, I have recently spent an hour just throwing out scraps way too small to use – whatever possessed me to keep a scrap paper a sliver wide behoves me.

Anyhow, guess what I found – these 2 negative die cut of a poinsetta (it’s so old I don’t even remember which project I used it for – it’s not on my blog – I’ve looked.)

Well, this is what I came up with:

What a gem! I love it – and it’s so easy to make to. My negative die cut is on PTI Stamper Select - that is the only cardstock I have in my house – I love that it’s so thick that a negative diecut stands up well on it and I also use it for my Copic coloring. It’s the best! I just stamped a simple sentiment, slap a DP from Authentique Paper behind and popped up the negative die cut and finished with a button also from my stash. It’s so my style – so I guess I’ll be making more of it for Arty Carty Handmade Cards.

And here is my inspiration for the card:

Have a fun day cleaning out your stash too – you never know what you’ll find.

Tutorial – Making A Handmade Flower

Good morning everyone,

For today’s Creative Vision post, I am sharing a tutorial on how to make a handmade flower. You know those shabby chic cards you see with handmade flowers, I love them and have always wanted to learn how to make it. When browsing the web, I found this lady who makes these really nice scalloped flowers. Her site is here. Her flower is gorgeous but since I have 2 left foot, I adapted her flower and made it foolproof for me.

Here is my flower – easy enough for a beginner so anyone can do it really. All you need are some basic crafting supplies:

  • Scalloped punch (or scalloped die) – size of scallop determines size of flower.
  • Tissue paper
  • Twine

1. Fold tissue paper in half and continuing folding it in half until you get about 12-15 layers.

(doesn’t have to be accurate and tissue doesn’t have to be new and uncreased – you are going to be scrunching it up anyways – yup I’m lazy like that)

2. Punch out a scallop from your folded tissue paper.

3.Punch two small holes in the center and thread twine through the holes and tie a knot.

4. Flip the knotted scalloped circle over and start gathering each layer of tissue towards the center.

5. Once all the layers are gathered, start pulling layers down one by one (starting from the outer layer) to form a flower.

Tada!!! You have your handmade flower. See I told you, couldn’t be easier than that. And very cheap too – a flower that looks like you actually bought it.

Here is the card I made with this flower.

I used the “CV0087 Wishing You” stamp set from Creative Clear Stamps.

Have a fun and creative rest of the week! I sure felt creative after making a flower from some bits of tissue paper I had laying around.

Creative Vision Blog Hop #2

Welcome to another Creative Vision Team Themed Blog Hop.

Today, we are sharing projects made with “My Favorite Things”. As you hop hop hop your way around, make sure to become a Creative Vision Blog follower if you are not already, then leave me some love for a chance to WIN a Shopping Spree to the Creative Clear Stamp Store!

I love all kinds of little embellishment, tools you can use and pretty things you can put on a card. So many to choose from – it’s like asking me to choose my favorite paper manufacturer. Impossible!

I like pearls very much (so elegant); I like the color ivory; I like my white space (so clean); I like dry embossing; but my all time favorite has got to be die cuts. I think almost all (if not all) of my cards have some die cuts on it – can’t live without them. I mean, I could use a trimmer or a scissors but nah, I’m too lazy.

So here is my card with all my favorite things on it.

Enjoy my wedding non-traditional Christmas card.

As a little thank you for hopping with me today, here is a gift for you! $5.00 off any $15.00 or more purchase at the Creative Clear Stamp Store.

Elegant Christmas Lace

Good morning everyone,

Life is starting to settle into a school routine for me and my little kindergartener. My little baby going on the bus … like a big boy. How time flies. Before you know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will also be upon us.

I would like to share with you a Christmas card I made for Creative Clear Stamps.

I love how elegant this has turned out and this is a fairly simple card to make. First, I started with a 5.25″ x 5.25″ card base. Then, with a 6″ x 6″ cardstock, I punched Martha Stewart’s All-A-Round the page double arches punch to create the lacy edging. Stamped and ink the sentiment using Creative Vision’s Holiday Sentiment stamp set. Framed it and embellished it with pearls and flowers.

I used a Nativity scene kindly provided by our sponsor this week, Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps. The image is colored using Copic Markers and covered in Viva Inka Gold to give it a old silver shimmer on the surface of the image. The ornament was die cut using Sizzix Ornament #2. Designer Papers were all from Webster’s Pages 6×6 paper pack.

Come play with us at Tuesday Throwdown and win digital images from Robyn’s Fetish.

Christmas cards

Hello peeps,

I have a couple more card to share – been creating cards for my upcoming business expo. (see events tab above for expo details)

These pine trees have been embossed using Rangers Embossing Tinsel (snowflake). They are the most realistic snowflake look I’ve manage to find. I haven’t tried the Snow Pen by Marvy Uchida yet so if you have, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

These 2 cards are made using my Quikutz Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter. My Silhouette has been somewhat neglected since the Vagabond showed up at my house so she was thrilled to be called to duty again. I love the clean and simple look of the card that is often very popular for office use.

Can you see the similarities of these 2 Christmas cards? Yup – I was giving my new Heartfelt Creations window die a try. I love that the die cut window also embosses a nice patterned on the frame. I guess the images are also from Heartfelt Creations. These 2 are new designs for 2011. I’m curious to see how they do at the expo.

If you like what you see, you can buy these cards at the expo if you’re in town or on my website at

Have a great upcoming week.

Only 1 color card

I’ve always seen other people’s one color cards and thought how simple and elegant they are. So I’m attempting to create my 1st one color card that I have long admired from a distance.

The die cut window and main image is from Heartfelt Creations and the sentiment and gems are from Hero Arts. That’s all there is to my 1 colored card. It really didn’t take more than 5 minutes to get this done and I’m wondering if perhaps I’m missing something…hmm.

Maybe I’m going to try more.

Circles and Squares …

This seem strangely early for Christmas cards – but when I’m selling cards for a living – I cannot afford to wait till Christmas to design my Christmas cards! No one would get it by Christmas.

Here is a Christmas Card I designed … You can find it on my website if you want to order this for Christmas.

It coincidentally also fits into the circles and squares challenge call from Flourishes this week that Maki has issued. Circles are punched out from red and green cardstock with Fiskars medium and large circle punch. Poinsettia was from Making Memories Falala collection (now discontinued unfortunately). Sentiments are from Stampers Anonymous – Mini Holidays Number Two.

Have a fun Christmas in June.

They made me do it …

It’s too early for Christmas cards but those gals at The Pink Elephant made me do it. They have a recipe challenge – “Favorite Color Combo, Polka Dots and Crinkle Ribbon”. So here is my favorite color combo with polka dots and crinkle ribbon Christmas card.

The little Dolly stamp is from Impression Obsession and colored using Derwent Watercolor Pencils. Have a fun day, even if it’s not Christmas!
