Clean and simple here I come …

Good morning everyone!

Welcome to this week’s challenge at The Pixie Cottage. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this week’s theme – I know I gravitate to CAS cards because they are right up my alley.

As always, we have 2 parts to the challenge and you can choose either or both to play along with. This week theme is to make a clean and simple card and/or use the sketch below:

I used both the sketch and the theme to create my card this week:

I used Tim Holtz Valentine’s Day set with Versamark watermark ink pad to create the heart background. The adorable and trendy latte mug and sentiment is from The Pixie Cottage – it is part of a larger mug set that you can get from Michelle’s Scrapbooking and More. I popped up the mug and added some twine to create some dimension and interest.

This is an easy challenge, I think. I would love to see your white space! You could win 2 Pixie Cottage stamps of your choice.

Rash of fruits …

Lately, I’ve been noticing myself making all kinds of fruity cards – strawberries, peaches, cherries – they make such ideal images for “thank you/you’re so sweet” cards.

Then I find Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge issuing a fruity challenge – how timely. I love Flourishes stamps – they are so timeless and elegant – even the the sentiments.

So here is my fruity card for the FTTC with a very elegant sentiment from the Flourishes Kids Play stamp set.

Enjoy a day of joy!

The Beauty of CAS!

I was surfing the web looking for inspiration when I stumbled on this blog you have to see – he is a 10 9 year old boy whose passion for his craft matches the quality of his work. (His tutorial is in English on The Scrapcake Blog where he is on the design team and his chatter is just so heartwarming.) It’s truly inspiring for me! (Thanks Kuba for stopping by)

So off I go to make more of those bright and happy CAS (clean and simple) cards that my customers like so much.

Papers, cupcake brads, rub-on flowers are from Doodlebug Designs. Happy Birthday sentiment is from Pebbles Inc.

Flower brads are from Doodlebug. Felted trees are from Pebbles Inc., Sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations and I apologize I don’t remember where the twine is from (it’s from my stash).

Enjoy the cards inspired by 10 year old Kuba.

Less is more …

I love designing cards! I love cards with frills, paper- pieced cards, stamped cards, cards with cutesy little people and animals on them, cards with only sentiments on them, cards with nice patterned paper, clean and simple cards, vintage cards, you name it. When someone asks me what my style is – I would say experimental. Some days I like clean lines, some days I like shabby chic, some days I like vintage – it ebbs and flows according to my mood for the day.

Today, I cleaned and packed up my craft room – so the neatness is reflected on the cards I made today. Clean and simple cards with lots of white space – just like my craft table. Here are my “less is more” cards …

I guess what I really like are cards that have a strong design element and balance to it.
