Bunches of Love

Hello hello my friends!!

I hope you’ve all had a fun Halloween this week and have started settling down a little. I’m feeling a bit ill from all that candy and ghostly orange, purple, black and colorful decorating I feel like need to start a clean slate for a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving rolls around.

So here is my clean slate:

I have found the perfect color for coloring transparent/glass things – BGR1 and BT1 of my Spectrum Noir markers!

I used BGR1 to give the glass abit of shadow and BT1 in the water to give some reflective shadow from the plant. I have found that less is definately more when coloring transparent objects and don’t be afraid to leave some areas uncolored.

The refreshing jar of flowers is from Sheena Douglas A Little Bit Sketchy Stamp Set – Busy Doing Nothing and those sentiments are from Popcorn the Bear Bunches of Love stamp set – aren’t those fonts lovely. I love mixing and matching image and sentiment from different sets – they all go so well together yet have just enough difference to make it unique.

Happy Birthday Crafter’s Companion

Hello all,

Welcome to another Friday’s post with Steph. First off, Happy Birthday to Crafter’s Companion! We’re celebrating 7 yrs this week for our UK office! Thank you for supporting us all this time.

To celebrate, we are giving away 3 freebie stamps, exclusive to Crafter’s Companion, with every purchase. You can find these stamps here. Here is my card today:

I used the fairly new Mulberry Wood stamp set today. The image is colored with Spectrum Noir markers.

Bear: GB8, GB10, TN2, EB1

Dress: BT1, BT2, BT4

Hat: GB1, GB3, GB4

Flowers/bouquet: LV1, LV2, CT1, CT2, DG2, DG3

Ground shadow: BG1

I’ve been feeling much better about my Spectrum Noir marker coloring lately after all this practice – I found that I usually go from dark to light because it gives me better blending and then just touching up with dark again.

I hope you’ve been practicing with your Spectrum Noir markers!

Mulberry Box

Hello all,

Welcome to another Friday’s Crafter’s Companion new release post. I made a giftbox and tag this week instead. This little Mulberry Wood puppy is just screaming to be given away and tis the season to be giving – well, almost!

I have a confession to make but first let me tell you about my project. The box was made using my Ultimate Crafter’s Companion – it comes with DVD and booklet instructions on how to make the box but you could also download the instructions here. Puppy is colored with Spectrum Noir Markers – I totally went outside the usual color family here for the puppy and I prefer that the blending is much softer. (puppy: GB8, GB10, TN2, EB1 and his nose/feet pads: TN7; Bouquet: TB1, TB2, GB5, PP3, PP4, LV1, LV2, DG2, DG3)

Well, I feel totally embarrassed typing this but this happens to me all the time – I make my project upside down! I think you can somewhat tell from the photo but the tag is stuck on the bottom of the box – arghh!! I tried pulling it off but it kinda ripped the box so I attached a big ole’ bow to cover up my mistake. Well, I’m not perfect and I guess the box will be going to a child who can’t tell the diff .. hahaha!

I hope you have a crafty weekend planned!

Thank You With Love!

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another Friday’s Crafter’s Companion post. Before I share my card, I just wanted to let everyone know that I do read every comment you leave me and I really appreciate all your kind and encouraging words. Thank you and here’s one for you!

I was in a sweetie pie mood when I made this card so it’s all pastel and pink. The adorable mouse is from the Beatrix Potter 3D card topper set. In case, you’re not sure what a card topper was, it’s basically a pre-colored imaged on a nicely matted background (and in this case also on 3D foam) so you have an instant image to use on your card. The sentiment is also part of the pack – so easy and convenient to whip up a quick card. Don’t forget to also check out 8 brand new Beatrix Potter paper crafting kits. In case, you’re curious, fabric papers are from DCWV.

Have a great weekend y’all!

Appley Dapply

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another Crafter’s Companion post. How could it be close to 80 degrees at the beginning of this week and almost 50 degrees at the end of this week (at least in MN)?? Seriously, this is what I feel right now … ready to be wrapped up and heading somewhere warm.

I decided to do a non-stamped card this week – did you know Crafter’s Companion makes card toppers too. A Brand New set of 8 papercrafting kit from Beatrix Potter is just out – click here to see the whole range! I used some fabric paper from DCWV for the card background and mat and ribbon is from May Arts.

Have an Appley Dapply day and stay warm!

Toread is in town!

Happy Friday my friends,

Welcome to a brand new Crafter’s Companion stamp release this week! We have a new designer – Toread – and she designs these cutest little elfin images. I am totally taken by how round and impish they look – just darling! I use the Comge set for this card and can I say again I love how adorable she looks!

Seriously stinkin adorable! As usual, I colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers, die cut a circle on blue texture cardstock, lined it up and trimmed off part of the circle. The chipboard sun is from Bella Blvd and the buttons and twine are just from my stash. I then mounted the whole finished image onto a 6×6 yellow card base.

Take it easy and have a fun weekend ahead!

Powered by Fairy Dust

Hello friends,

Welcome to another Crafter’s Companion post. It’s been a loooong week for me .. actually a long couple of weeks since school started. DS is just heading into 1st grade and I’m just getting beaten up the shock of daily homework. I’m thinking a bit of fairy dust might just do the trick to get me through the weekend!

This little Sheena Douglass A Little Bit Festive set was colored using my Spectrum Noir markers. I glued down a bit of Stampendous glitter for her fairy dust and Ranger stickles for her wings. Lightly chalked the background so it would pop from the white card base. The card base was also scored around the image. A simple card powered by fairy dust this week.

I hope the school year is settling down for most of you. Have a good weekend!

A Little Bit Festive

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another Crafter’s Companion new release post. Everytime, I look at the Crafter’s Companion blog, I’m just amazed at how different everyone’s style is and how the same stamp can be used in so many different looks. It’s just inspirational to me. Today, I’m sharing another clean and white card – clean and simple has always been my style but I’m so into white lately I keep churning these out without even thinking.

This image that I used is Sheena’s latest release from A Little Festive Line – perfect for Christmas. I stamped the image on the card base itself, colored it with my Spectrum Noir markers, added glossy accents on the leaves and stickles on the berries. The card sides were notched with my eyelet punches just below the image and embellished with twine, knotted at various intervals. Sentiment was also from the same Sheena Douglass line, diecut with Spellbinders die and mounted just below the colored image with 3D foam tape.

I hope you find some time to craft now that the kids are back at school!

It’s never too early for Christmas!

Hello friends,

Welcome to  another Crafter’s Companion Friday post!

With pleasantries out of the way…may I say how EXCITED I am with this card? I am beside myself with all that white and glitter -  it sparkles just like a clean dish out of the dishwasher and it speaks to me at a completely different level only another OCD can understand … LOL!

I used the brand new Sheena Sillios stamp collection on this one – the very sweet snowflake border and the elegant sentiment – so perfect for each other. The crackled gold background paper is from Momenta, background is partially embossed with Lifestyle Craft embossing folder, sentiment was diecut with a Spellbinder die and snowflakes were embellished with some gold stickles.

It’s never too early for Christmas in my book!

Congratulations Morehead

Good morning friends,

Have you ever done some Spring cleaning and realize there are tons of dies, inks, supplies that you have not used in a while? Guilty here!!

I found my Papertrey Ink cupcake die that was collecting dust so I decided to use it for something other than a birthday card. I used it for a wedding card instead – pairing it with the fairly new Crafter’s Companion Morehead Collection. They are such an adorable little boy and girl pair and I cannot get enough of them! It’s right here:

I used the Marriage stamp set in that collection and colored them sparingly with Spectrum Noir markers. I left most of their clothes uncolored with the exception of creating shadow and folds. Took me a while to let go of the idea that I had to color every single part of an image!

Here are the markers I did used:

  • Hair: GB3, GB4, GB5
  • Skin: FS2, FS3, PP1
  • Pinks: PP3, PP4, PP5, PP6
  • Green (leaves): DG3
  • Shadow (on clothes): BG1

Patterned paper and sentiment sticker are from Momenta. Love these really convenient sentiment stickers!

Peace, Love & Joy

Happy Friday everyone!

I have to start by saying I absolutely adore these ticket stamps from the Crafter’s Companion Paintbox Poppet Christmas collection when it first arrived at my doorstep and I am thrilled to be able to use it for a modern Christmas card! I love the look of  these modern CAS looking cards and I have the perfect Echo Park paper to go with it .. check it..

The entire sentiment actually says “Peace, Love and Joy” in 3 sentences. I stamped each word into the ticket by masked off the rest of the sentiment – really a handy technique if you wanted to change the layout of how the sentiment originally came in. Each ticket was distressed and assembled together on the card as you see it.

Peace, love and joy to you my friends!

Christmas Day with Mulberry Wood

Hello everyone!

I think most of you know I run a handmade card business and usually once August comes around, I’m in full fledged Christmas card making mode in order to have inventory ready for the season so I love that it’s timely that this week’s Crafter’s Companion new release is Mulberry Wood Christmas images. I love that this collection not only has images, it also has so many sentiment and tag images that I don’t always have enough of. Here is how I used one of them.

This is a simple card to make – I embossed and sanded a lovely piece of Core’dination card stock, matted it with patterned paper and stamped the tag image, then die cut it. A bonus I discovered – all the circle tag images on this stamp set fit the Spellbinders Nestabilities circle die SM perfectly. Yay – sure makes easy work!  I also embellished the edge of the tag with some glitter to give it some pop. I hope this gives you some inspiration for your Christmas card making.

Will You Play With Me?

Hello hello everyone!!

I’m back from my vacation and I missed you! I had a great time visiting family and my kids just had a blast with our DisneyLand and Universal Studios visit. I will have photos posted on my facebook page once I get it off the camera. A special thanks to my amazing team mates – Taylor, Dawn and Denise – for covering for my absence.

This week, we have a new release – from a new artist too – Morehead stamps. The cutest adorable little boy and girl images .. wait, I said that about SWALK stamps too. Morehead – SWALK – Morehead – SWALK …gosh I can’t choose, oh well, just get them both. Here is my simple interactive card:

The images are so easy to color – I colored him with my Spectrum Noirs (hat & shoes: GB6, GB7, GB10; shirt GB1, GB3, GB4; pants: TB5, TB6; flower & bandana DR4, DR5, DR7, flower stem DG2, DG3; skin FD2, FS3, PP1). I put a brad at the top of my image so it would swivel away to reveal the hidden sentiment panel. All papers and stickers from Momenta. I have discovered the joys of stickers – just slap it on and you have an instant sentiment or focal image!

Hope your July was fun!

A Day of Joy!

Dear friends,

Actually, I’m expecting to have a month of joy! I’m heading to Singapore and Hong Kong for our family vacation tomorrow!! I’m not looking forward to the 24 hour flight with 2 young kids but I’m so excited to get there.

I will have some post scheduled but please bare with the less frequency. And before I leave, here is my card for today!

The adorable Strawberry Kisses Cutie card! There is a Crafter’s Companion new release today – Ian Hollow line of stamps. I just didn’t get my stamps in time for me to make the card and post today. I still  love revisiting older stamp sets – the beauty is still remains and I always find a new found appreciation for them (although this one is not that old – it was released in January this year).

This little cutie was colored using Spectrum Noir markers (cup/saucer: BT2, BT4, BT5, LV2, OR1; cat: TN2, TN3, PP1 ; bow: LV1, LV2, LV5). The little spool is from Maya Road and twine is from Doodlebug Designs. I just handwrote my sentiment.

I hope you have your day of joy!

With Love

Good morning friends,

Welcome to another Friday post for Crafter’s Companion. Today I’m sharing with you the super adorable dog and cat from the Strawberry Kisses collection – nope, this is not a new release but it’s fairly new that just came out around January this year. I love weeks when there is no new release because I get a chance to examine these fairly new and adorable stamps much closer and play with them.

This particular one is called Babe and it never fails to bring a big smile to my face. This was my original Father’s Day card for DH but I discovered I ran out of anniversary card when I needed 1 this weekend so DH will have to do with one from the stash. Come to think of that it’ll make an awesome Valentine’s Card too!

It is colored with Spectrum Noir markers (cat: GB4, GB5, GB7; dog: IG2,IG4, IG5, moon: CT1, CT2, reds: CR8, CR11). I should also mentioned I used the blender pen to lighten the edges of the moon a little and I used DG2 to add a hint of shadow on the ground.

I hope you have a great summer! We’re heading for our family vacation to Singapore and Hong Kong in 2 weeks! I can’t wait and I’ll be sure to post photos!

Get Well Soon

Good morning everyone!

It’s Crafter’s Companion Friday today! Today, I’m sharing this gorgeous Art Kure stamp, newly released this week.

Mike Gross, the stamp artist, creates these beautiful scenic and nature scenes that are just breathtaking for me I couldn’t bear to tamper too much with it. The leaves and the sky were lightly water colored with chalk; then die cut in an oval and edges inked. I slapped on some liquid pearls and ribbon. That’s all I did with this card. Isn’t the art work just breathtaking and so tranquil with so little work done to it. In case you’re wondering, the sentiment is from Popcorn the Bear Someone Special set.

Have a great crafting weekend!

Well Done Graduate!

Hey there!

Hope your morning has been swell so far! I have another Crafter’s Companion post today – just an extra one this week since I’m in need of a graduation card – yup it’s round the corner – and I just love thisSWALK well-done stamp set with such an appropriate sentiment.

Those little cutie patooties were colored with Spectrum Noir markers (GB5, GB3, GB1, FS2, FS3, PP1, PP3, PP4, DG2, DG4, CR10, CR8, TB5). Background was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and star paper is from Lilybee Designs.

Have fun at any graduation party you may be going to and have a great rest of the day.
