Operation Write Home Blog Hop

Operation Write Home (OWH) is having a fundraiser. They are a not-for-profit organization that collects and sends handmade greeting cards to American soldiers so they can stay in touch with their families. They need to raise $13,000 to cover holiday shipping costs.

Two stamp illustrators, Katlyn from K ‘n K Stamps and my friend Deedee Anderson, have kindly designed 7 new digi sets exclusively for this cause. Each “set” includes an image and some greetings, in both JPEG and PEG file formats, all in a zip file.

100% of the proceeds from the sales of these stamp will go to OWH. These sets are available for just $2 each or get all for just $10. You can buy them at the K ‘n K blog (not the store) and all purchases will be emailed out within 24 hours of payment clearance.

Thinking of you

When Falls come around, I think of Thanksgiving; and when I think of Thanksgiving, I think of you. Sounds like a song doesn’t it – no actually, I have been reading the children’s book “If you give a moose a muffin”… he’ll want this and when you give him this, he’ll want that, and that and that. So that’s what’s been ringing in my head.

So it is kinda timely that the challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is to make a “Thinking of You” card. Our sponsors this week is MY GRAFICO!!! Yeah yeah yeah!! I love MY GRAFICO images, especially this typewriter one I used on my card this week. (I have my eye on a telephone one I’m going to use next).

Fall Days are coming

I’m not sure if I’m happy that Fall is coming and kids are back to school or sad that warm sunny summer and vacation days are over. I am happy with my Fall card I made for this week’s Tuesday Throwdown challenge.

The fall flower image was kindly provided by Sweet n’ Sassy Stamps. I really like their nature/floral stamps – they are so sweet and simple. You can win some of their stamps if you make a Fall card and play along at Tuesday Throwdown too.

Lacy Pearls

Good Tuesday morning everyone,

Today’s Tuesday Throwdown is pearls!! My favorite embellishment by far…ribbons are a close 2nd. This week’s winners will win stamps from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps.

Here is my card with an ethereal image of “Angie”, kindly provided by Stitchy Bear – surrounded by a nice lacy die cut and embellished with pearls. Designer paper and ribbon are from My Mind’s Eye.

That is the challenge at Tuesday Throwdown this week. And here is my card:

I used a Nativity scene kindly provided by our sponsor this week, Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps. The image is colored using Copic Markers and covered in Viva Inka Gold to give it a old silver shimmer on the surface of the image. The ornament was die cut using Sizzix Ornament #2. Designer Papers were all from Webster’s Pages 6×6 paper pack.

My 1st Post for Tuesday Throwdown

Good Tuesday morning to you!

I have been looking forward to starting with the Tuesday Throwdown team for the last two weeks and preparing my cards for it – Tuesday is finally here!! Yeah Yeah!!

This week McMahon Five Designs is our sponsor – that means you get a chance to win some of their very nice stamps. I have never shopped there before but I was pleasantly surprised at what a large selection of cardmaking/scrapbooking goodies they have besides stamps. (there was 35 pages of digi stamps alone – not even counting rubber stamps, papers, embellishments and more). I guess I am going to be loading my shopping cart now.

Happy Card …

Good morning friends …

I’d like to share this happy card I made for Crissy Armstrong’s DT call. I love clean and simple cards (CAS) with 1, maybe 2 layers – they are not easy for me to make because there are many nice embellishments out there just begging to be used. I also like cards with balance and strong design element to it and Crissy’s images are strong enough to stand on it’s own on a CAS card. On to the card:

Yellow bands on card are airbrushes with Copic marker (Y04, Y08); Elephant and sentiment images are Crissy’s illustrations, sold at Whimsy Stamps (BTW, they’re having a 25% digi sale all month long). Elephant was colored with Copic Markers (BV01, BV02, BV04, R20, R29, B01, B04, Y04, G05, G07, V12, V15, O)

Happy 4th of July!!

I love long weekends!! The kids play till they are worn out and I get to make cards while they are napping.

Here are the cards I made today. It’s the 1st time I’m using digital stamps and I love it!

The meadow is from Whimsy Stamp Crissy Armstrong’s Collection. I love how versatile the stamp is for many different images. Of course, everyone recognizes Tilda. I believe she is new from the 2011 sweet rainbow collection. I love how bright and colorful this card turned out that I didn’t even have to photo edit it at all.

My next card is also from the Crissy Armstrong Collection. I just adore this little girl and her puppy – I love that she looks so vintage. Quite a different look from Tilda. And she is so easy to color – all the shading spots are already highlighted on the stamp! Thanks Crissy.

I’m off to make more cards since the kids are still asleep and Crissy is having a design team call!! (scroll down to see blinkie on sidebar)  Have a happy 4th everyone!!
