O’range you glad Fall is here ..

Hello everyone!

Welcome to today’s Gourmet Rubber Stamp designer challenge – orange. Well you could interpret is as using a fruit but we’re thinking of the color orange.

Well, a pumpkin is orange too I suppose. And it’s brand new in last month’s appetizer set (Invite to Fright) that I’m now just cracking it out to play. Oh and I forgot to mention that my top pumpkin also wobbles – it’s on a set of Action Wobble Springs that I received from playing with them on another design team collaboration.

Check out the other oranges (the cards not the people..LOL).

Journey Card

Hello all,

I’m sharing a Stampendous card today – one that was posted on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog and I realized I had not share it with you yet.

I love how this card came together – specifically, I love the map stamp! Everyone needs a map stamp .. just say’n! The train stamp is so nice and vintagey too and goes so well with the map. Check out the other cool stamps on this Railway stamp set. And to top it all, that glitter mix is just the best! It looks like the train is going over some crushed limestone gravel thingy. I wanted to re-take the photo of this card coz I saw the sun glare to the bottom right which I had missed on the camera viewfinder for some reason but DH saw the photo and thought it was cool that the train looked like it’s coming out of some imaginary tunnel into the sunlight! Well – I now think the card looked much cooler with a story behind it like that – hence the “flaw” stayed.

I hope you are having a wonderful journey.

Another Anthony and Burt Creation

Hello everyone,

Thank goodness is Friday and I get to post a Crafter’s Companion post!

It’s that time of the season when everything outside is wet and cold and everyone inside my household is down with the sniffles. I hope all these dreariness ends soon and as I was deciding on which Anthony and Burt image to use for my card – this one seem very opportune for this moment in my life.

I colored dear old Burt the frog (Anthony is the fly) with alcohol markers and texturized him with a blender pen. On my last Friday’s post, I shared how I colored him.

This week, I wanted to share a design tip instead – for clean and simple 1 layer cards. Clean and simple comes naturally to me but I know many of my friends struggled with clean and simple – I hear them tell me it always turns out boring and plain – as if something was missing.

Over the years, I have discovered that what helps me make a clean and simple card pop is really to create a strong and bold focal point – either using dimensions (pop up), a strong color such as the big colorful bow I used and I have started to enjoy using negative die cuts too.

I hope you will give clean and simple a try with these 3 simple tips – Anthony and Burt are such completed image set that works so well with this style of cards.

Happy Crafting!

Lots of Laugh from the old croonie

Welcome peeps,

Did the title give away the challenge theme this week at Color Me Creative Classroom? Well, the theme is lots of laughs and bright colors. The sponsor of many good things is I Brake for Stamps.

I made a tag this week since I choose a label stamp (aka smaller size) with the intent of making it into a label for a gift for a friend. Here is my tag:

And here is a closer view of the trendy and crazy old lady who makes me laugh:

I glittered up her glasses, hat pin and earrings too. Boy, was that a tiny image to color. (lesson learnt) Tag was a 7 gypsies pre-printed tag that I dressed up with a sticker from Fancy Pants and a doily diecut from Papertrey Ink. Ribbon trim is from Crate Paper – love how vintagey that looks.

To enter in the challenge, you can use any image you want as long as they are colored with alcohol markers. Your card must also be newly created. Don’t forget when you play along the entire month, you are also entered into the monthly drawing for the shopping spree at Oozak. How can you beat two prize opportunities – head on over to be inspired and get to coloring.

Sunday with Crissy Guest Post

Hey everyone,

By now, you would have figured out that I am a huge fan of Crissy Armstrong’s images – they are so achingly adorable, I think. I am extremely proud to be guest designing for her today.

Her challenge this month is “anything goes” – make any card you like and go to her challenge blog, Sundays with Crissy, to play along.

I made 2 cards using her images:

Ain’t Rupert the cutest – I left the card without a sentiment so I could use it for any occasion as it crops up. DP is from Basic Grey (green) and I apologize I cannot remember the manufacturer of the yellow dot paper (it’s from my stash). The butterfly pin is from Jillibean Soup – I have the hardest time finding hat pins so if you know of a place to get them, let me know.

My 2nd card is below:

This little cutie (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) is one of Crissy’s newer releases … even the name is cute. I love that she has these pencil drawing too – make the whole images so much softer. DP is from October Afternoon (black menu) and Lily Bee Designs (yellow dots). Ribbon is from Fancy Pants Designs. Flower is from Kaiser Craft.

There is your dose of cuteness for the day. All of these Crissy’s images that I have used can be found at Whimsy Stamps.

Have a fun kind of day!

The most adorable cow – EVER!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to this week’s challenge at The Pixie Cottage. I’m truly enjoying using these rubber stamps that Michelle has sent me – they produce such crisp images and some of these stamps are so achingly cute. Wait till you see the stamp I used today on my card!

As always, we have 2 parts to the challenge and you can choose either or both to play along with. This week theme is to make a blue boy card and/or use the sketch below:

I decided to use the sketch this week:

Well I guess it’s also a mostly blue boy card too. But see what I mean – isn’t he the most achingly cute boy cow there is around!! And there is a girl version too that I want to get my hands on!! You can find him at Michelle’s Scrapbooking & More.

Come join in the fun!

I’m in the spotlight …

Today is my spotlight post at One Crazy Stamper (OCS). I’m sharing 2 cards for my post.

The 1st card is a card I made for my son, well actually I might give it to my daughter and make him a superhero one – I’ll figure it out later since it’s everybody’s birthday at my house. I mean every single one of them – I am knee deep in birthday celebration at this time of the year. My DH just celebrated his b’day not too long ago, my little Emma’s turning 2 next week, my affectionate Shawn is celebrating his birthday in 3 weeks after that and my own 2 days after Shawn’s.

Imagine the number of cakes we have in the fridge at this time of the year!! For these couple of weeks only, we eat cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And let’s not talk about presents!

For some reason, all our friend’s birthdays are around the same time too (5 parties in the last 3 weeks) and I use birthday cards more than any other cards at this time of the year. So I make birthday cards whenever I can. Here is card #1:

The little elephant image (Celebrate Big) is from Whimsy Stamps Crissy Armstrong collection and can be found at OCS. He is colored with Copic Markers. Designer paper is from Fancy Pants design.

Card #2, I’m using it for celebrating another relationship, Grandparent’s Day (which is the day after Labor Day):

Sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations; Designer papers are from Crate Paper and the flower is actually handmade and here is a tutorial. You can also find the stamp from OCS. I really enjoyed making these cards for OCS – they carry the kind of stamps I love and I love designing for a team whose products I actually enjoy using – makes designing very easy.

Have a happy November, even if it’s not your birthday!

Thank you.

Those are 2 words I could definately say more often.

And it is also the challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown – incorporate the word thanks or thank you on your card.

Our sponsor for this week’s prizes is Robyn’s Fetish.

Here is my thank you card:

I made that my son’s kindergarten teacher. Image is from Robyn’s Fetish and DP is from Fancy Pants. I’m not sure if you can see the embossed apple background, but that embossing folder is from Lifestyle Crafts.

Have a good day and thank YOU for supporting my blog.

Cardabilities Reveal Day for Oct 30

Good morning readers,

Today is another Cardabilities Reveal Day – 2nd one for October.

Here is sketch for this reveal:

This sketch was a tough one for me. I toyed with the idea of a patterned paper as background but it kinda made the card too busy with the layers as the focal point in the sketch. Then I rotated the image around and it looked a bit bottom heavy and blah in the middle. So I decided to keep it clean and simple and stick to the sketch as is – I mean, why change a good thing.

So here is my take on the sketch:

I can’t wait to see what you do with this sketch. So head on over to Cardabilities to play along.

Have a Moxie Fab kinda day!!

Do my own landscape – nah!

Never would I have imagined that I would be doing my own landscape – on a card of course. (really please – what are you thinking – me and a shovel? Pigs will roll over laughing.)

Have to try it once – I repeat that about half a dozen times with my 5 yr old. So here it is – if you don’t like it, you can spit it out – just not at me.

Patterned papers are from Fancy Pants and I used Copic Markers (ground: E37, E31, E50; grass: G94, G24, G21, G20, sky: B00, C0; Tilda: E31, E25, E29, YR04, E00, E21, B93, B95, B97, RV91, RV95, RV99, YG91, YG93, YG95, E25, R29, Y18, G17). Wow! Didn’t realize how many markers I used. Oh and the colorless blender of course.

Thanks Fluff for indulging my marker addiction and adding 26 more to my collection.
