Fancy Folds

Hi y’all,

The challenge this week at WnW is Fancy Folds – to make a card with more than 1 fold. And I have a confession – I actually tried making an easel card – it didn’t work. (and I actually looked at several tutorials online) Something is wrong with a fold somewhere because the front of the card is facing the ceiling … hmmmm. Then I thought maybe I might try one of those step cards that Lacey does do well – no luck there either. It wouldn’t stand – I think one of the folds might be the wrong way. I guess I will have to set those 2 aside and try again when I’m not knee deep in birthday parties and holiday preparations.

So I cheated with my Fancy Fold – I’m sorry ladies. I went out to buy one of those $40 Sizzix Bigz die that cuts out the entire template with the folds pre-embossed in it already.

This is what I made:

Obviously, it’s not a card but it’s a box that I could use to send my leftover Christmas ham home with guests, instead of some old Tupperware. I used “Let’s do Lunch” stamp from Wags n Whiskers and my sentiment is from Flourishes.

One random participant will win a Free Wags ‘n Whiskers Rubber stamp! You don’t need to use a WnW image on your project to enter the challenge, but if you do, you will be entered into a 2nd drawing for a Free Wags ‘n Whiskers Digital Stamp!! Two chances to win!! If you are in need of a WnW design, click here for Rubber stamps, and here for Digis!

It’s your turn now – let’s see your Fancy Fold creations.

White space is good

Good morning friends,

I have always like my one layer card – less is more is a very powerful concept for me. However, my new Spellbinders Fancy Tag came on the mail yesterday when I was knee deep in kindergarten homework, design team assignments, PTO work, housework … you get the point.

I just had to try out my new Tags but didn’t have time to go into a complicated card. I also needed to make an extra card for Through the Craftroom Door. So I did the best of both – use my tag to make a CAS card for Through the Craftroom Door.

Here it is:

If I may toot my own hoot, I LOVE how it turned out!! So simple, yet with a touch of elegance. I’m planning to make more of this card – but perhaps, I will add a touch of pearl on both ends of my tag.

Have a relaxing day everyone.

Cardabilities Reveal Day for Oct 30

Good morning readers,

Today is another Cardabilities Reveal Day – 2nd one for October.

Here is sketch for this reveal:

This sketch was a tough one for me. I toyed with the idea of a patterned paper as background but it kinda made the card too busy with the layers as the focal point in the sketch. Then I rotated the image around and it looked a bit bottom heavy and blah in the middle. So I decided to keep it clean and simple and stick to the sketch as is – I mean, why change a good thing.

So here is my take on the sketch:

I can’t wait to see what you do with this sketch. So head on over to Cardabilities to play along.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with this sketch and I hope I have inspired you to create.

Pink with a touch of green …

Hello everyone,

I’ve been waiting for my 1st post with Through the Craftroom Door design team for 2 weeks now. I was so excited about making the team, I made my card on the day I found out – all 2 weeks ago!!!

Today’s challenge is based on an inspiration photo – make a card using the photo below as inspiration. Easy photo right? since we all love our pinks. So to make it more of a challenge, the color green should also be included.

So without delay, here is the photo

And here is my card.

We are being sponsored by Paper Temptress and her prize is a $25.00 gift certificate for your shopping pleasure.

What are you waiting for?? Come play along …

Flourishes 4th Birthday

I just have to say Happy Birthday to Flourishes. They are my classic stamps that I so adore and I have so many favorites. This one I’m sharing is my go-to set for masculine cards. (and I have to add lace and ribbon so now no man wants it)

Added 8/26: 1 more card to share for the Flourishes 4th Birthday – my go-to card for a girl’s birthday.

Anyhow, join in their blog hop today and stand a chance to win more stamps from them.

Have a great day.

Rash of fruits …

Lately, I’ve been noticing myself making all kinds of fruity cards – strawberries, peaches, cherries – they make such ideal images for “thank you/you’re so sweet” cards.

Then I find Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge issuing a fruity challenge – how timely. I love Flourishes stamps – they are so timeless and elegant – even the the sentiments.

So here is my fruity card for the FTTC with a very elegant sentiment from the Flourishes Kids Play stamp set.

Enjoy a day of joy!
