It takes Rain to Make a Rainbow

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Wire works Wednesday for Flower Soft. I have a fun and simple way to use your wires today … here it is:

Isn’t it simple – just bend it into an umbrella handle and color it to the shade you want with your alcohol markers. Stripe patterned paper is from American Craft. Stamps are from Stampendous. I also used the new Flower Soft color Daffodil to add texture to the umbrella top. Another quick and easy 10 min card!

Have a good one!

Oriental good fortune card

Good morning my friends,

Meet today’s card!

I have not made much oriental focus cards because I am always intimidated by how not-my-style it is but since I started making some for a recent order I had, I discovered it’s not so difficult to integrate it to my style after all. Here I used the Flower Soft Oriental Blossom kit with some American Crafts butterfly brads. Papers are also from the Flower Soft kit and those clear beads are actually clear liquid pearls.

Wire Works Wednesday

Hello my friends,

Today is another Wire Works Flower Soft post – one that I’m using Flower Soft wires in my project.

The brick background was embossed with one of Tim Holtz  embossing folder. The florals and sentiment are from the Flower Soft Floral Starter Kit. I added some Flower soft on the florals for added dimensions and twisted the wire to form a hanger for the sentiment. I hope this gives you more ideas on where you could be using your wires beyond just floral stems.

Tea in Paris?

Good morning everyone!

Welcome to another Crafter’s Companion post. We have a new release this week – some gorgeous Nouveau Sheena Douglass Providence images! Check it out …

I really only colored the door and windows with Spectrum Noir markers (the door & window were shaded with TN3 and the grain was just streaked with TN7, TN8, EB5); the ground and window was shaded with IG2, the pots were EB7. These lovely French themed background paper from My Mind’s Eye and those dots and strips – my latest addiction – Washi Tapes from Queen & Co. Oh and I should point out that the images were stamped twice and fussy cut out and both layers were popped up – so the Eiffel Tower actually looks like it’s in the background. The flowers itself all had Flower Soft on it for texture. I love the simple design with a whole lot of dimension and texture.

I hope you get a chance to visit Paris – in your craft room or in real life.

Oriental Blossom Kit

Good morning everyone!

I’m sharing a favor box today for my Flower Soft post! I found these Asian take out boxes at the grocery store the other day and thought they make such unique and easy decorating ideas. Here it is:

I wrapped a satin ribbon around the box. Die cut a circle from patterned paper from the Flower Soft Oriental Blossom Kit. Fussy cut images I found in the kit and an instant gift box. Easy decorating ideas even from the grocery store and I love how we can use the kit for non-card projects!

New Flower Soft Colors!

Hello Everyone!

Can you tell I’m super excited about the new Flower Soft colors?? Daffodil, Old Rose, Cornflower, Crocus – such a soft and delicate palette! and I used one of them on my card today … Daffodil.

The image, including the pop out flowers, is the Die Cut Dimensions – Wildflower 2 collection. How cool is that!

The sentiment is also from Flower Soft. My delicious damask looking background paper is from Crate Paper.

I think the next new color I’m going to try is Old Rose. THAT my friends, is a swoon worthy color.

Mabel Lucie Attwell stamp

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another Flower Soft challenge. This week’s challenge is to use another Mabel Lucie Atwell stamp on your card. Here is my card:

These little cuties were so easy to color – it is drawn with such large open spaces that allows for easy shading and highlights. I colored them with Copic markers. Background patterned papers are from American Craft and Teresa Collins. I added some Flower Soft for the grass and the hat topper for some texture and punched out a lace border with a Martha Stewart punch.

My favorite card topper.

Good morning peeps!

Welcome to another Flower Soft challenge – use any Flower Soft stamp or topper to create a card.

Here’s mine with my favorite topper:

It’s such a simple topper – the Springtime Card Topper, yet so stunning and I topped it with Flower Soft – Autumn. Never fails to add the depth to the image. Did you know you could mix your own Flower Soft colors too – take a dry plastic container and a pinch of whatever colors you want and mix it! Try it – you never know what you may create!

Your fav yellow combo

Welcome to this week’s challenge at Color me Creative Classroom.

The challenge this week is actually to use your Favorite Yellow color combo. Unfortunately, as you will see in my card, I screwed up!

I had some yellow on my card but not where it’s supposed to be – colored in the flower. This floral image generously donated by Tiffany Doodles was so pretty and was screaming out to be violet that I forgot to check what the actual challenge theme was before happily coloring it the color I wanted to. So sorry about that. All my patterned paper is from Kaiser Craft Lush collection, flower center and butterflies are from Flower Soft.

Anyhow, despite my mistake, I could encourage you to please enter in the challenge. You can use any image you want as long as they are colored with any alcohol markers AND fit the theme of course. Your card must also be newly created.

The winner of this challenge will win digi stamps from Tiffany Doodle.  And when you play along the entire month (just 2 cards), you are also entered into the monthly drawing for the shopping spree at Oozak. How can you beat two prize opportunities – head on over to be inspired and get to coloring.

Wire Works Kite

Good morning everyone,

It’s time for Wire Works Wednesday with Flower Soft wires.

I made a kite!

Somehow, it makes me so happy that I made a kite as if it was some kind of adventurous boy scout accomplishment or something. My kite was made from my homemade washi tape adventures – you may have read about it in this post. I have LOTS of them laying around so you will see them pop up again from time to time. The kite “string” was made from Flower Soft wires, colored with Copic Markers. The sentiment is also from Flower Soft! Bet you didn’t know Flower Soft makes stamps too – I didn’t either till now of course … they have a select few very cute stamps you should check out. The “wind” for the kite is also Flower Soft diamond range – Silver.

I also have had several friends recently ask me if you could use floral wire as a substitute for Flower Soft wires so I thought I should address this here in case you were also wondering. Technically, you could since it bends the same way (maybe the floral wires are a bit stiffer).

However, I would still recommend using Flower Soft wires – not because I am on the Flower Soft design team and I feel compelled to steer you towards the product – but because I have used both floral wires and Flower Soft wires and I truly prefer the white matted paper covered Flower Soft wires to the glossy plastic coated floral wires (or even the paper covered green floral wires). I prefer them because of these reasons:

- I could color on the Flower Soft wires while I couldn’t on the green floral wires (plastic or paper) – hence allowing me to use the wires for different projects (such as the kite one above).

- I have also found that glue sticks better on the Flower Soft wires than the floral wires (especially the glossy plastic ones).

So there you have it! Have fun with your wires!

Pink, purple butterflies .. fly fly fly

Good morning folks…

All March long, I have this song stuck in my head all day long … all because I heard it in my daughter’s toddler class week after week.

It was finally gone about a week ago but I guess it’s back again with this new Flower Soft challenge – use the Butterfly kit to make a card. Maybe I might have some mental company if I shared the song … bwahahahaa.

Here is my butterfly card:

I used the Die cut dimensions Butterflies kit for this one. I love these toppers – for reasons obvious to me – they make quick and beautiful cards with dimensional effects without any effort at all! It really allows me the leeway to playing with colors without worrying about the image.

Happy Easter!!

Hello everyone!

Are you ready for Spring?? Whenever I think of Spring, I think of Easter eggs, new farm animals, allergies of course. But when Sheena Douglass came out with her newest set of images of farm animals, the 1st thing that came to my mind was an Easter basket of course.

Here it is:

My wire basket was a store bought basket from the $1 bin at Target. I measured the 5 surfaces (4 sides + 1 bottom) of the basket and created a template for me to cut out my patterned paper. I added a 1/4″ on all measurements to ensure that when I scored the folds, using my Crafter’s Companion Ultimate Tool, there would still be enough paper to cover the basket. Next I covered all seams with ribbon.

My gift tag was stamped, sponged around the edges and embellished with some Flower Soft. I love how well sketched the image is that I didn’t really have to color in the image. I plan to add it to a gift bag next!

Happy Crafting and best wishes for Easter my friends!

Anything goes at Flower Soft

Welcome to another Flower Soft post!

This week the design team is creating any card they like! I mentioned in my earlier posts that I would share all the ingenious ways I learnt during my Flower Soft certification class … here is another one:

Use it as the “snow” in a shaker card! In this case, it’s grass for the little chick – an Easter or a new baby card.  To ensure that your Flower Soft is not a mess and stuck all over the adhesive of the shaker dome – make sure you put the Flower Soft in the middle of the image and apply the dome to the image (instead of putting it in the dome and applying the image to the dome). My color paper is from Basic Grey and the cute little picket fence is from Papertrey Ink. Wooden banner is from My Mind’s Eye.

Happy sprinkling!

Celebrate!!

Hello everyone,

When I think of Spring, I think of new babies, spring wedding, spring break, my little brother’s birthday – all reasons to celebrate!

Here is my “Celebrate” card:

I love this pack of Flower Soft paper crafting kit called The Wine Buffs I used – look at the bottle!! It looks so real! There are Wine Buff stamps as well that I can’t wait to get my hands on! Very fun kit to play with.

Oh and I should add that I made that red ribbon with Flower Soft as well – shape a paper strip into a ribbon, add Flower Soft glue and sprinkle with Flower Soft! When it dries, it’s so pliable and sturdy as well – all ready for you to mount on your card!

Wire Works Wednesday

Hello friends!

I had so much fun playing with my Flower Soft wires that I can’t wait to share today’s card with you.

Yup – this is another technique I learnt at my Flower Soft certification – to use Flower Soft sprinkles in a whole new way beyond just flowers and flower centers! Isn’t this cool!

I cover almost the entire length of wire with Flower Soft glue (save for an inch at the bottom for you to adhere to card) and sprinkle with Flower Soft. When it dries, I twisted the wires around a pencil to form the swirlies! So fun to do! You can of course make any shape you’d like with these Flower Soft covered wires – think of the possibilities!!

Have fun playing with your Flower Soft in new ways!

Sweet Poppet

Good morning ladies and gentlemen (if there are any reading this post),

Today’s card features the oh so adorable Poppet - a Crafter’s Companion new release. She comes in so many different poses – one dancing ballet, one gardening, there is a super cute one I’m dying to get my hands on of her making a flower garland. Here is one of her presenting you a flower – awww..

I colored her with Spectrum Noir Pens today (TB3, TB5, TB6 for her coat and hat, LV1 & LV2 for her socks and shoes; FS2, FS3, PP1 for her skin and TN7 & EB5 for her hair)

I lightly shaded her flowers with LV1 and enhanced the color and texture by adding a variety of Flower Soft sprinkles on it. She was then diecut out with oval Spellbinders nestabilities and matted her on an embossed frame embellished with a touch of old English lace.

I’m off for a spot of English tea now!

Have fun creating folks …

Happy Spring!!

Hello everyone,

I’m thrilled that the weather is getting warmer – I’m not a fan of snow, slush and cold … I can say unequivocally that we only moved to MN for work, definately NOT for the weather!

Since Spring is in the air – I’m also in a much better mood these days and I made this card to celebrate Spring and it’s incidentally also the challenge over at Flower Soft blog!

The card is a 5″ x 7″ card and the bicycle image is a card topper from Flower Soft Country Bicycle pack. I used a variety of Flower Soft sprinkles to bring the flowers to life. Butterfly is from Little Yellow Bicycle.
