New Diners Set June release

It’s the 1st of the month and there is always a new Gourmet Rubber Stamp Diners Set release on the 1st of the month. Check it out …

The Seed packet image was what caught my eye 1st and this is what I created.

 

Paired that with the strawberry plant from May’s new appetizer set and the watering can from the Water your Soul appetizer set and some Lily Bee Design (red checkered – love that the paper looks like a picnic mat), Making Memories (strawberry paper) and Papertrey Ink fence and doily die to get the sweetest little homely card I’ve made. There is still more to devour in this Diners Club set! Sigh – I love this life.

Humphrey Loves You!

Good morning everyone!

Welcome to another Friday’s Crafter’s Companion post. I am showcasing today – one of my favorite Crafter’s Companion character – Humphrey. This new collection is just released this week. Meet Baby Humphrey!

 

I decided to use a different sentiment than what comes with the set since Mother’s and Father’s day is coming right up and this would make such an appropriate card from a child to a parent.

Baby Humphrey was colored using Spectrum Noir Markers – IG1, IG2, IG4, PP3, PP4, PP5, CT1, CT3, LV2). My background paper is from American Crafts, the scallop border die is from Papertrey Ink and the ribbon is from May Arts.

Anything goes at Flower Soft

Welcome to another Flower Soft post!

This week the design team is creating any card they like! I mentioned in my earlier posts that I would share all the ingenious ways I learnt during my Flower Soft certification class … here is another one:

Use it as the “snow” in a shaker card! In this case, it’s grass for the little chick – an Easter or a new baby card.  To ensure that your Flower Soft is not a mess and stuck all over the adhesive of the shaker dome – make sure you put the Flower Soft in the middle of the image and apply the dome to the image (instead of putting it in the dome and applying the image to the dome). My color paper is from Basic Grey and the cute little picket fence is from Papertrey Ink. Wooden banner is from My Mind’s Eye.

World’s Best Dad

Hello everyone!

It’s time for a Crafter’s Companion new release! And I think it’s the best yet – the Beatrix Potter collection!!I grew up reading all about Peter Rabbit, his cousin Benjamin Bunny (and his dad also goes by the same name), Mr Jeremy Fish and Timothy Tippytoes! Who is a better dad than Benjamin Bunny!

Don’t worry – Father’s Day is on 17th of June this year and I am mighty early for a Father’s Day card. It’s only because I have my handmade card business that I have to prepare inventory for in time for June sales.

Well here is Benjamin Bunny munching away on some veggie looking all dapper in his signature blue coat.

He was colored with Spectrum Noir Markers. I was concerned of using the “wrong” shade for such a recognizable character, you know, like coloring the American flag a wrong shade of red and blue; but I quickly remembered that there is nothing to fret – there is a list of resources on my Spectrum Noir instructional DVD that lists all the colors for the Crafter’s Companion characters. Phew!

 

Here are the colors I used: GB10, EB2. EB1 for the bunny himself and TB3, TB2 and CT3 for his coat. (the instructional DVD lists TB4 instead of TB3 for his coat – I didn’t have that shade so I just layered on TB3 a little more)

Lots of Laugh from the old croonie

Welcome peeps,

Did the title give away the challenge theme this week at Color Me Creative Classroom? Well, the theme is lots of laughs and bright colors. The sponsor of many good things is I Brake for Stamps.

I made a tag this week since I choose a label stamp (aka smaller size) with the intent of making it into a label for a gift for a friend. Here is my tag:

And here is a closer view of the trendy and crazy old lady who makes me laugh:

I glittered up her glasses, hat pin and earrings too. Boy, was that a tiny image to color. (lesson learnt) Tag was a 7 gypsies pre-printed tag that I dressed up with a sticker from Fancy Pants and a doily diecut from Papertrey Ink. Ribbon trim is from Crate Paper – love how vintagey that looks.

To enter in the challenge, you can use any image you want as long as they are colored with alcohol markers. Your card must also be newly created. Don’t forget when you play along the entire month, you are also entered into the monthly drawing for the shopping spree at Oozak. How can you beat two prize opportunities – head on over to be inspired and get to coloring.

Our Creative Corner Challenge

Hello all,

I was completely taken by surprise and totally flattered when Tui Nathan from Our Creative Corner contacted me and asked if I would like to guest design for them. Of course I said yes – I had been playing in their challenges for a while and love the work of their design team. They also have a few new team members in place since January this year.

Well, this week’s challenge is black and white with a splash of color! Mine is a big splash of red …

Most of the supplies on the card is from Momenta – since my DT box just came from them and it’s conveniently sitting next to my craft table waiting to be used or put away. Only the white pearl-centered flower is from Offray. The doily die is from Papertrey Ink.

Step it up …

Hello my online friends,

I wanted to share this card I made using a Mabel Lucie Attwell Card Kit – a Flowersoft New Release. This is a first for me in a couple of regards – using a card kit and making a center step card!

I don’t know why I have never thought of using a card kit before but I LOVE how this turned out! It’s just so easy to use – I just cut out the image and used it as a card topper. The image is just perfect – no coloring, with pre-marked lines that is easy to cut out and all I did was just embellished – how fun! It sure helps with a lot more room on a center step card to play with.

Papers are from October Afternoon, Crate Paper, Studio Calico and My Mind’s Eye. My sentiment is a Stampendous stamp on a Crate Paper chipboard tag. I love how the vintage elements playing along side nicely with the relatively modern felted trees from Pebbles.

And thanks to the DVDs I have been watching from Crafter’s Companion, I finally mastered making a card with more than 2 folds.

Just because …

I did this card just because I felt like it.

I’ve been watching the class 3 video at Suzanne Dean’s Color Me Creative Classroom and it has just given me so much mojo to color and make cards. This is a copic coloring class that gives you tips and techniques on coloring various objects and people, quite different from your Copic certification course. There is so many things you learn from that class I don’t even know where to beginning telling you – except to direct you to the class topics. My biggest take away, since I have no fine arts background, is where to highlight my objects making it more realistic looking!

The latest release is Class 5 – even more tips and techniques – I can’t wait to begin!! Oh wait, and there is a holiday special going on now till Jan 5, 2012 … please go check it out. You don’t want to miss this.

Cardabilities Reveal Day for December 15

Welcome to Cardabilities Reveal Day – Sketch #45.

Before I begin this post, I’m thrilled to announce that I have accepted Karan’s invitation to continue on the Cardabilities team for another term! Yeah!

Her sketches are the best to work with and the sketch this week truly reflects my kind of card – traditional, linear, clean and simple. What more is there to say about this sketch – I love it and I could work with this sketch all day long.

My 1st Forever Friends post

Crazy Hair Day …

Hi everyone,

Welcome to another CMC challenge this Thanksgiving week. No – it’s not my crazy hair day. It’s crazy hair day for today’s CMC Copic challenge – to COLOR HAIR IN UNUSUAL OR MULTI COLORS (so no browns, blonds, blacks or auburns)!! Use any image you want as long as they are colored with Copic Markers or Promarkers. Your card must also be newly created.

The Sponsor this week is Simply Betty Stamps.I just found out that her 17 yr old son is struggling with throat cancer.  She has lowered the price on her digis and is creating more to help raise money for medical care for her son.  It’s a terribly trying and sad time for her. I cannot image how terrified she much feel as a parent and how her son must be feeling. You can read about Betty’s story at her blog HERE. Please take some time to check out her digis – they are amazing to color with Copics, as I have discovered.

Flower Power!

Hello Peeps,

I’m thrilled to announce that I have been invited to do a guest design post for Whimsy Stamps this week! I shop there also, mainly to buy Crissy Armstrong’s images but with this guest post, I chose a stamp from the Moon Cookie Gallery and I’m glad I did because the variety of stamps there is astounding.

Anyhow, today’s challenge topic is Flower Power! Use flowers in your creations! Our prize – $15 worth of stamps of your choice!

I love how pretty and simply drawn the little fairy is, I thought she went well with a CAS card too. Cloud die and negative cut is from Papertrey Ink.

My 1st Guest Post …

Hello friends,

Today is my 1st guest post with One Crazy Stamper (OCS). OCS is a retailer up north in Canada with a large online presence and since September this year, a brick and mortar store too.

I have grown to love the wonderful stamps they carry – stamps from Whimsy, Stampavie, Crafter’s Companion, Stamping Bella, Bells and Whistles, Just Rite, Heartfelt Creations and alot more – all in 1 place (easy to get free shipping). Needless to say, I shop there too. I also hear from my Canadian friends, they have the cheapest Copic Markers in Canada without the custom duties of buying from the US.

“Fall” in love

Hurray for buttons

Good morning everyone,

I have been cracking my head around this month’s Papertrey blog hop inspiration photo. It’s so colorful and linear at the same time – so my style but the thing I was cracking my head around was – what image to use?

Here is the inspiration photo:

So I do my usual thing when I’m stuck in a rut – I browse the internet for inspirations. First, I found a sketch on the Stampendous blog yesterday with all these linear circles … hmm, interesting …

and then I saw the Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab World with all the sewing items on the inspiration photo (the banner was kinda handy)

and it struck me – buttons!!! What a great way to make a clean, bright and linear card for Papertrey Ink blog hop with buttons – my image issue is solved and so is my ever growing button stash. That’s how my mind works …

and here is my button card:

and I had to make this a congratulations card – heh heh … that’s how my mind works.

Everything is from my stash and the double-ended banner is from Papertrey Ink. What an unexpected match!! I love how this turned out – YEAH, my mojo is back!!

Yum Yum Cupcake!

Howdy!!

I feel like I haven’t made a card in a while – that’s because I have been busy getting my daughter’s 1st yr scrapbook started. Have 4 pages done – will take some photos and post it for show and tell.

Anyhow, I just received my new dies from Papertrey Ink and I had to give it a test run. Here is a cupcake-shaped card I made with my new cupcake die – now I need to decide if I want to get their onsie shaped die. It’s to die for! But I do make more birthday cards then I do baby cards – so we’ll see.
