Christmas cards

Hello peeps,

I have a couple more card to share – been creating cards for my upcoming business expo. (see events tab above for expo details)

These pine trees have been embossed using Rangers Embossing Tinsel (snowflake). They are the most realistic snowflake look I’ve manage to find. I haven’t tried the Snow Pen by Marvy Uchida yet so if you have, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

 

These 2 cards are made using my Quikutz Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter. My Silhouette has been somewhat neglected since the Vagabond showed up at my house so she was thrilled to be called to duty again. I love the clean and simple look of the card that is often very popular for office use.

 

Can you see the similarities of these 2 Christmas cards? Yup – I was giving my new Heartfelt Creations window die a try. I love that the die cut window also embosses a nice patterned on the frame. I guess the images are also from Heartfelt Creations. These 2 are new designs for 2011. I’m curious to see how they do at the expo.

Good photography day outside … NO!

Hi there …

It’s a terribly muggy hot day today in MN – perfectly windless with a bright sunshine! What a great day to take photos of my cards. Yet when I tried going out to take a card photo on my deck, some non-existent wind keeps blowing my card over. It’s just too frustrating!

Perhaps I will not be waiting till it’s winter in MN to get my lightbox after all.

Well, here is the card I tried photographing outside to no avail … I did enjoy making the card!

The little children dancing image from Hero Arts is just too happy – it’s called “Dancing with Flowers” and I just love these patterned papers from the new My Mind’s Eye Stella Rose Collection.

And for those who know me, you will know I can’t stop at 1 card. So I made another version of this card using distressed ink instead of pattered paper just to see how it would turn out. I’m not really sure which one I like better, so please give me your feedback. The sentiment was from Impression Obsession Sentiments II. I love how versatile that sentiment set is.

So many toys, so little time …

Well hello bloggers … I have to apologize for the unintentional gap in post.

I enjoy shopping – I have not met a crafter who doesn’t. Most of the time, I have some degree of self-control but ocassional,  I lose it (com’on – I’m human)! So I got totally carried away shopping yesterday … and now I’m totally playing with my new toys. Woo Hoo!!

Here is my haul …

Yes I mean really Carried Away – all unintentional purchases – really, everyone needs a Vagabond (doesn’t matter if I already have a Silhouette).

On a positive note, lookie what I made with my Zutter-Bind-it-All. Got to use it … at least once. Actually, I intent to make a Copic Coloring Book too (but that’s another post).

Change is good, right?

You may have noticed that I have been making little changes to the design of my blog every so often. But today, I have hit the mother load of change – I’ve changed the entire hosting domain of my blog. From Blogger to WordPress. Apparently, Daniel, my technology GURU, thinks Blogger is not “powerful and versatile” enough so I have to go to a “better” one – solely his opinion, but after the blogger outage last week, I am inclined to agree.

Anyhow, you will be getting a new invite to follow me on my new blog address … sorry about the inconvenience. But please continue to subscribe to my blog. I very much appreciate your support of my creative journey.

And to welcome you to my new blog space. Here is a card for you.

End of the school year …

I’m sad that 1 of my children is graduating preschool … the end of his 1st formal school experience, the end of some of his 1st friendships, the end of some closer adult relationships he has built with his teachers.

There is also some degree of excitment about starting kindergarten in the fall – new teachers, new school, new friends, “new toys”, new learnings, a new beginning of being a “big boy” … I suppose there will be many more ends and beginnings to come.

But don’t forget to thank the teachers who make your children’s school experience a memorable one. Here is one of the cards I made for his teachers.

Background patterned paper is from Karen Foster School Collection. Journaling lines on the white cardstock is part of the Impression Obsession Cover-a-card notebook stamp. The pencil is part of the October Afternoon report card clear stamp collection and is embossed with  Ranger super fine black embossing powder and colored with Copic markers (Y04, E00, E31, C03). Sentiment is diecut using my Silhouette machine.
