For my little Pumpkin …

Thank goodness I didn’t forget Halloween!! The candies and costumes are bought and the house decorated – lest my kids would not have let me live to tell …

Obviously, my house is not the only household that enjoys Halloween. From now till Oct 31, we have our Halloween Challenge going on at Through The Craftroom Door too.

The challenge: you have to create a project that is Halloween Themed and include the color orange.

The prize: $12 gift certificate for Stamp Fairy. (that’s a lot of digital stamps or paper you can buy)

Without further delay, here is my Halloween card with lots of orange.

Have a Happy Halloween and stay warm!

Hello everyone,

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness month! Don’t forget to do your monthly checks. It could save your life.

Sweet and Sassy stamps is kind enough to provide the prizes for this week’s USE PINK challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. The image and sentiment I used for my card is also provided by Sweet and Sassy stamps. Thank you so very much Kori and Dan.

Here is my pink and white card:

Background was embossed using Spellbinders Impressabilities. Patterened paper frame is from Authentique Paper Collection. Butterfly was colored using Copic Markers RV02 and RV04.

I enjoy making these white on white cards – for some reason, they make me feel very relaxed. Have a relaxing rest of the week.

Creative Vision Blog Hop #2

Welcome to another Creative Vision Team Themed Blog Hop.

Today, we are sharing projects made with “My Favorite Things”. As you hop hop hop your way around, make sure to become a Creative Vision Blog follower if you are not already, then leave me some love for a chance to WIN a Shopping Spree to the Creative Clear Stamp Store!

I love all kinds of little embellishment, tools you can use and pretty things you can put on a card. So many to choose from – it’s like asking me to choose my favorite paper manufacturer. Impossible!

I like pearls very much (so elegant); I like the color ivory; I like my white space (so clean); I like dry embossing; but my all time favorite has got to be die cuts. I think almost all (if not all) of my cards have some die cuts on it – can’t live without them. I mean, I could use a trimmer or a scissors but nah, I’m too lazy.

So here is my card with all my favorite things on it.

Enjoy my wedding non-traditional Christmas card.

As a little thank you for hopping with me today, here is a gift for you! $5.00 off any $15.00 or more purchase at the Creative Clear Stamp Store.

Just use this code at the checkout so Laura knows I sent you! It is not valid towards shipping, it cannot be combined with any other offer or discount, and it expires October 4th, 2011 at midnight.

Color Challenge – Breast Cancer Awareness

Good morning everyone,

Today’s challenge at Through The Craftroom Door (TTCRD) is a color challenge – Pink and White in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month. I love the challenges at TTCRD because it is a REAL challenge for me – no shortcuts or what haves you. Besides being pink and white, it’s got to be a shaped card too (no rectangles of squares) and use pearls or blings.

What can you win??

A gift certificate worth $10 from our sponsor, Pizzazz Aplenty. They have the coolest resin embellishments (cameos, butterflies, flowers etc) – love it, love it, love it.

Alright then, enough drooling over what YOU can win… here is my pink and white, pennant shaped card with lots of pearls:

What are you waiting for?? Come and play and have a great day …

Book Review: Spellbinders Nestabilities Basics & Beyond

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I read a book or did a book review. So here is one that I recently read – Spellbinders Nestabilities Basics & Beyond.

This is really a project book created by Stacey Caron, CEO of Spellbinders. It’s a 62 page book – 9 pages of techniques and the rest projects. What I like about the book:

  • quite a few “outside the box” techniques on how to use your Spellbinders dies, beyond just running it through the machine as is.
  • very cool and amazingly pretty projects using these techniques. Awesome eye candy!

What I’m not so enthused about: I don’t really know when I would actually do these projects

  • like the candy bar wrapper on pg 28 – really … whomever I give candy to will just be ripping thru the wrapper before the candy actually leaves my hand!!
  • There were also a couple of table top Christmas tree projects – not my thing. I can see myself trying it once in my lifetime just for fun; then what – probably never go near that project again. I mean how many table top Christmas trees do I need or want – I already have a regular floor size one?

All in all, I like this book – but I’m not overly impressed. I like the techniques section best – all 9 pages of it. It gives me creative ideas on how to use my Spellbinders dies – the one I spend lots of money on. So the more I use it, the better I feel about it. Here are techniques they feature in the book:

  • regular die cutting (this one I do all the time)
  • selective die cutting
  • making a shaped card (this one I tried)
  • making windows (this one I tried)
  • making frames (this one I tried)
  • stenciling (this one I tried)
  • making tissue paper carnations (this one I tried)
  • box top technique
  • making a tree
  • pyramid-image technique
  • dimensional flowers

Bottom line – buy at your own risk if this is your thing. Oh and feel free to ask me more questions if you want to know more.

My 1st I Heart {Ippity} Guest Design Post

Hello Everyone,

This month I will be the guest designer for I Heart {Ippity}. You will see my work featured every Friday in August at I Heart {Ippity} and all the fun things you can create using {Ippity} Stamps. They are just adorably fun and trendy stamps to use and I will be using the “A Moment in Time” set – great for cardmaking and also for scrapbooking.

I made this happy happy card just to say Hi.

Background of card was embossed with Spellbinders Impressibilities “butterfly”, green label was die cut from Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 14, kraft label was die cut from Spellbinders Nestabilities Label Small, Ribbon is from American Craft and sentiment is from a very old Scabble set that I salvage from a yard sale.

Thanks for checking out my card.

Delicious purple card …

I haven’t used purple, especially darker purple, much on cards just because I find darker cards harder to photograph. But when my sister-in-law asked for a purple card, I thought I’d give it a try to see if I could pull of a darker purple card.  Here it is …

I am surprised and how rich and warm it looks and I love how rugged yet soft it looks when paired with khaki green. I guess I will be using more of this color combo.

Here are the details for the card:

- Patterned paper is from Die Cut with a View.

- Tilda (magnolia Stamps) is colored with Copic Markers,

- Ribbon and flowers are from Offray.

- Tag was die cut with Spellbinders and stamped with Country Charms labels from Flourishes; sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Stay cool in this 100F heat.
