Happy Birthday Suzanne!

Good morning everyone,

The Color Me Creative Design Team has a secret!!!  Today we are hopping along to wish our fearless leader, Suzanne Dean, a VERY happy birthday!!!  Suzanne is the owner/creator of the Color Me Creative classroom site and, as many of you know, teaches her Copic classes online and on the road!  She is one busy momma and we thought we’d take time to wish her a happy day and hope she gets to sit with her Cherry Coke and donuts (ya, a fav combination of hers!) and relax a bit today and enjoy the hop!

Each of us decided it would be fun to remember Suzanne today in “typical Suzanne” style!  Our creations will either help remember a “funny travel moment” with Suzanne or… share a secret about Suzanne.  Ha!!!  Bet she didn’t see this coming!!! LOL

Here is what I created today….

This is a snapshot of what I know of our sweet Suzanne … a simple and beautiful person inside and outside – who thinks the best of someone, who always sees life from the positive; who would tweet me just to say hello during a 45 min layover at the Minneapolis airport  (I ♥ that!) and who has just a bit of loopy thrown in too. Remember when you took the wrong meds on a plane ride – LOOPY indeed! What a awesome and fun combination of a person she is. Happy Birthday my friend – I’m glad we got to hang out at CHA this year!

Now hop on over to the rest of the DT’s blog to see what they are sharing about Suzanne.  ;-)

Steph Lee (you are here)

and last but not least, don’t forget to head on over to the CMC Classroom site to wish Suzanne a Happy Birthday.

White space is good

Good morning friends,

I have always like my one layer card – less is more is a very powerful concept for me. However, my new Spellbinders Fancy Tag came on the mail yesterday when I was knee deep in kindergarten homework, design team assignments, PTO work, housework … you get the point.

I just had to try out my new Tags but didn’t have time to go into a complicated card. I also needed to make an extra card for Through the Craftroom Door. So I did the best of both – use my tag to make a CAS card for Through the Craftroom Door.

Here it is:

If I may toot my own hoot, I LOVE how it turned out!! So simple, yet with a touch of elegance. I’m planning to make more of this card – but perhaps, I will add a touch of pearl on both ends of my tag.

Have a relaxing day everyone.

Guest Designer for I Heart {Ippity}

I’ve had my badge up for a couple of weeks now but haven’t made an “official” announcement yet.
So here goes …I have been asked by I Heart {Ippity} to be their guest designer for the month of August. Woohooo!!!
{Ippity} Stamps are pre-cut, unmounted (cling foam) deeply etched red rubber stamps packaged in eco-friendly packaging. In fact, if you love Unity Stamps, {ippity} stamps are made with exactly the same quality material by the same people. I love the fact that the {Ippity} stamp line was created by the Unity Stamp Company to support women in business – allowing us time to be mothers and wives and yet balancing time for themselves. And best of all, they have new fun and trendy designs coming out every 3 month!!!
Pop on over to I Heart {Ippity} blog and say hello there too, if you would like! Heather, our leader, sells these FABULOUS {ippity} stamps made by Unity Stamp Company that we all love!
You will see my work featured every Friday in August at I Heart {ippity} and all the fun things you can create using {Ippity} Stamps. I’m so proud and thankful to be part of this fabulous creative team. Thank you ladies for having me!

Altered Projects …

Hello Friends,

I found some new stamps I wanted to get my hands on coloring them with my Copics – from Darcie’s, Stamping Bella & of course, little Tilda from Magnolia stamps. Aren’t they the most adorable images. So I made some bookmarks and tags this weekend that I could use and give away. I also used a Unity Stamp to make the flower bookmark.

I love these corner bookmarks so it doesn’t stick out of the book and rip in the process of using it. Nope, I didn’t come up with the idea – some other creative person did and here is her tutorial on how to make the bookmarks.

I also made the tags as a little cheat sheet for “sandwich” recipes for my vagabond – courtesy of Nancy’s contribution on the SplitCoast Stamper forums. The most useful thing in my craftroom to date!

Stay cool today and have a productive day!

Quick 30 Minutes Handmade Cards

What is better on a hot summer day and an ice cold slice of watermelon? An ice cold bowl of sweet cherries in an air conditioned room of course … yum!

Here is my sweet bowl of cherries colored with Copic markers in my air conditioned craft room. Thank goodness for modern amenities!

I had always only used my colorless blender to fix mistakes but this is the 1st time I am using it to draw the colors away from the bowl to create more highlights. I like how it turned out – I think the colorless blender is going to be my new best friend.

Stamps are from Unity Stamps Company. Copic markers used are R35, R20, BG72, BG75, 0. Scalloped square is punched using Marvy Uchida Extra Giga Scalloped Square punch. This is my less-than-30 minutes, quick and easy card.

I also wanted to share another quick and easy card that I have submitted for various other challenges in the past and will send this for The Pink Elephant challenge this week.

Background is stamped with Impression Obsession Cover-a-card Wavy Lines and embellished with Hero Arts crystal gemstones. Foreground is embossed with Sizzix textured impressions embossing folder – wedding set #2 set on core’dinations black cardstock.

Stay cool in this 100F heat …
